You don't need physx to play Crysis 2.

Or...

You don't need physx to play Half-Life 2.

Your choice. Wink

And to be more specific/clear: Half-Life 2 had tons of pickable objects lying around.

HL2/EP1/2, RFG, RFA, Assassin's Creed, Company of Heroes(<3), Just Cause 2 and many, many other games, in which Havok completely SHINED. Enter PhysX, what the hell did PhysX do except the same thing but only available on Nvidia cards.

PhysX truly shined in Arkham Asylum, but that was only for eye-candy stuff. There have also been games such as Alone in the Dark where it was complete and utter shite.

I like the clutter, it makes things more alive. As said previously, looking through that clutter and finding that one piece is much more rewarding than just putting everything important in plain sight (like most games do). Sometimes you'll miss things, but that's the point of it. If you want to find every small thing, you have to pay attention.

Enlighten us, how is it better ?

And i don't mean how its only GPU-Accelerated on nvidia cards, i mean the the technical side, after all - Havok is not GPU-Accelerated either.

It's not "the same thing".

The interactivity of the titles you have mentioned can be easily achievable with the "software" version of PhysX, and that version works on all cards (or rather on all CPUs) and all consoles, just like Havok.

Euphoria isn't a physics engine.

It absolutely is. Motion is physics too.

Nope. Euphoria handles procedural animations.

Euphoria relies on an actual physics engine eg. Havok. Without that, Euphoria would do nothing.

I would quote Naturalmotion's website, but it seems they've redesigned it since last I had this discussion.

In their old FAQ, they pretty much had the exact words: "Euphoria is NOT a physics engine."

dezztroy is technically correct, but you can see it as the next step of the physics engines.

Euphoria is not a general physics engine. It only handles the movements of NPCs. It may use physics (among many other things) to accomplish that but it's definitely not an all purpose physics engine.

The company’s award-winning euphoria engine is a break-through in real-time character animation

I can only assume that people with a strong fondness for IW are easy to please, or they've forgotten what made the genre so great in the first place.

Although I did enjoy playing IW anyways Sad

Hope they worked on the AI a bit since this build. Not that it sucks, it could just be a lot better.

I managed to knock out everyone in the Police station with a tactic of; throw bin against wall, knock out lured investigator, drag him around the corner - rinse and repeat. Be good if NPC's kept note of where their mates are, and notice if they've gone mysteriously missing. Also investigate a bit more thoroughly in general if they've heard a noise a couple of times.

Regardless, I really had my doubts when they announced this game but I'm now really looking forward to august. Smile
