So? The more people move to a better service the better. YouTube video encoding is fucking awful, and the faster they move on, the better.
But that will never happen, as Google are making a shitloads of money on the ads. Why do you think you have these retarded PARTNER VIDEOs or PROMOTED VIDEOs or RECOMMENDED VIDEOs? They all generate huge amounts of revenue and it would be stupid of Google to lock the free features. And if this renting nonsense helps lower the ads a little, then I am all for it.

When I browse my favourite metal blogs/reviews sites the first thing that I do is open YT and search for the new albums...and surprisingly I can find practically everything there, even unknown bands or rather niche stuff (thanks to the great work of enthusiasts who constantly keep their dedicated channels updated).
As long as you don't see the homepage (), Youtube is a great service imo.

As some people still not know of it: Grooveshark is quite nice if you want to listen to music. Ofc they might not have as much music as youtube but the quality is mostly a lot better.
Quality content will still be hosted somewhere else... like vimeo. |

Ok, so it's US only for now - I posted that just before going to bed so I didn't take the time to write anything more.
The thing is, this is just so fucking disgustingly awful, because I fucking hate the generation that is ahead of us/partly here. The fucking sucky MTV/Jersery Shore/Lady Gaga/Black/Bieber-genereation, who WOULD pay FUCKING THREE DOLLARS to rent that fucking crime against humanity for 72 hours. It's not that it affects me personally that they charge money for it, it's the fucking idea of actually doing it, and that there ARE so many fucking retards out there who will pay for this shit.
And what'll follow? WHo fucking knows. There are things like this that affects me somewhat, like map packs for CoD for example - on Live, they're fucking 1200MSP! For, what 5 fucking shitty maps? FUCK YOU! As I have the game on both the 360 and PC (only bought on PC though), I checked what it cost there, and it was basically the same.
Luckily, you can play the game just as fine without the fucking pack and I can choose not to buy the damn thing, so I never will. And no I'm not about to start or partake in any retarded console vs. PC-discussion like some retarded 8-year old fanboy. I like my consoles for what they are, things to play GAMES on. But since I have enough money to own all of the current gen ones and a gaming PC, I get the best of all worlds and I have no reason to go around and cry like a bitch about what platform is "the best!"
But, back to the point of the thread - the people who'll pay cash to RENT a fucking shitty music video of some retarded, bullshit, brainless music, they will have a STRONG onfluence over the worls. Even if we just take USA - the US has such a large influence on what happens ALL around the world, we all know this, be it more or less in which country you are. Come election, the one closest from now or the one 25 years from now - these fucking people (not saying that EVERYONE who listens to Rebecca Black is a retarded derp, but you surely get the fucking point) will have their votes, and they will make difference that way. To really fucking simplify it - stupid people vote on some retarded candidate or law or proposition or whatever, resulting in effects that may not be just affecting the US. And even IF it just affects the US negatively, that's not something I'd wish upon any of them.
But I am overreacting, and I don't fucking care - things WILL be more fucking retarded as the time goes by, and having some form of rage within me against fucking mediocrity and trite bullshit that has NO FUCKING soul, heart or any form of "good intent" makes me feel better. Deal with it. Like you even fucking care anyway.
