Just started testing this out.Its outstanding so far! Love the atmosphere, has that System Shock 2 type and Half Life feel.I think it does the original Deus Ex justice. If this is what we can expect then a big thumbs up.Game Of the Year!

Just finished it, did everything I could after... dunno, 12-13 hours?
Where's the rest, I need it NAO!
VERY close to the original in pretty much every aspect, the world is loaded with detail (they might have sacrificed models and textures in order to do that but it was worth it), great side-quests with multiple solutions, high rewards for exploration and stealth as well as investing your praxis points into non combat skills, engaging story and great presentation (mission 6 elevator sequence) and so much more stuff that I really liked but can't remember right now.
The best part was the AI which surprised me while trying to hack a panel while being watched by a couple of guys in an adjacent room; I didn't want to and couldn't knock them out or else it would get ugly real fast so I grabbed a couple of boxes from a few stories up, placed them in their line of sight and... it worked!
I'm very tempted to just start this over again but I'll try to resist, just hope the rest of the game is as good as this preview.

i would never understand why people would play a beta version instead of just waiting for the full stuff.. its just like teasing yourself to death with something unfinished and wanting more and more for the real thing.. :}

Carrying a box around the police station as a mobile hiding spot is pretty funny. Kind of Metal Gear Solid-ish.

Preview build OST.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DJHT57W9
Haven't listened to it myself, but I believe it's extracted from the game itself, so expect, I dunno, 160kbps quality.
EDIT: 224 kbps, actually.

I think its time to make a confession....
IVE NEVER FINISHED DEUS EX 1 and 2 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have both original discs but never played them :O
Are they any good now? I remember playing a bit of deus ex 1 as a kid but I was like 10 then and couldnt get into it. what about Deus Ex 2? Do I need anything else than latest patch to play it? Is it worse than 1\?

Absolutely play DE1, ignore DE2 or play it after DE3 is released.

I have finished Deus Ex 1 back in 2000 when it was released and thought it was one of the best games I had ever played, despite the clunky shooting mechanics. But with a stealthy approach it was very enjoyable. Even with some flaws it was one of the best singleplayer experiences you could have.
I'm currently playing Deus Ex 2 as it didn't work on any of my previous computers. It feels very much dumbed down for the derpboxes and the interface is crap, but is still enjoyable in terms of storyline and the non-linear approach you can take in solving quests. Unfortunately the shooting is still clunky but again you can take the stealth approach.
Most irritating for me are the really small levels and long loading times each time you switch levels. And the graphics are absolutely shit by today's standards.

It's currently down due to bandwidth exceeds but these http://www.john-p.com/ should help with Deus Ex 2 (And Thief 3's) texture issues.
As a modified Unreal Engine 2.5 build there isn't much you can do with it otherwise however but there might be other mods.
(Similar to this being a modified engine of their latest Tomb Raider game and also difficult to mod properly for a variety of reasons like how the archive contains no file names or anything like that.)

Personally I would give DE2 a try after having completed DE1..
..just to see how bad it is if compared to the predecessor
