Now I understand why they want to implement the highlight option, they've placed so many stuffs around the surrounding, especially on the table. I played it with highlight off, and I've to press E button all the time to search, coz I've no idea which item is pickable.

It'll probably piss off console/casual players if there's no highlight option, pretty much they'll be running around cluelessly and blame this's a bad game.

I agree, their lab etc levels are very detailed, more detailed than any other game I can think of in terms of the amount and quality of props they have put in them, and this means there are a lot of things that be can't moved/used, and with highlighting off is difficult to tell the useful from the useless.

I've played with highlighting on and off, and what I don't like about it is the strong yellow color they used for it; I feel it ruins the visuals. Otherwise I don't feel at all that it ruins the gameplay.

As sabin says they should have used a more elegant solution, like the one in Crysis 2, or hell, why not something like in the original DE?

Oh, well, perhaps in the sequel Smile

Hey guys!

I found an easter egg in the demo, I don't know if this will be a spoiler or not, so I'll continue on the next paragraph! So don't read if you don't wanna know!

SPOILER ALERT BELOW!!

The easter egg is in the first cut scene of the helicopter ride to the first mission, where David Sarif is sitting in the heli with you, if you look closely enough, there's a light console to the right side of the seat that David is sitting. the red light with a small yellow dot is actually HAL-9000 from the movie Space Odyssey 2001!!

I've taken a few crappy screenshot of the ingame scene and you can compare the HAL-9000 screens that I scour off the net. You'll notice that the white light reflection on both the red light is the same. So how cool is that!! This should be a huge boner for the sci-fi fans out there, me included!

I tip my hat for the designer that pay tribute to the movie within DX:HR!

Just reached that station, game is extremely detailed (As pointed out.) and there is a lot to explore (Five hours into it now, roughly.) but I'm taking time finding all sorts of extras.
(Tons of those traveler XP bonuses for finding semi hidden areas.)

(Nice Deus Ex 1 reference on that computer terminal, haha.)

I dunno WTF I can possibly be doing wrong. Trying to use DX11 and the Right Shift is not helping. Still all dark. Running an Nvidia 570 with latest drivers. HELP!!! I am not ignorant (At least I wasn't yesterday) What am I doing wrong?
I hold right shift and click the exe for Windows7. Sounds simple enough.

Make sure its not the setup exe

It doesn't work always for me.
What helps to make it work is to minimize the explorer window, bring it back again in focus and then try the shift trick Smile

Haha, AI still is a bit flawed but it works I suppose, station has a lot of police officers around but by taking and throwing heavy objects and similar they'll get alerted (Though since I got access to be there they're still semi friendly.) thus separating, easy to knock them down after that and drag them into the air vents well out of reach of any detection. Razz
(Cleared three floors so far plus the cellar, main lobby will be impossible I recon but might be a interesting challenge to access all computers there if I can clear enough of them out.)

(Pressing T to initiate a takedown event seems to work on anyone as I recently discovered.)

If you find a way into the weapon lockup, do tell..

I can't hack the computer in that room and I don't see a panel to hack the door to the weapon stock pile.

It is possible to hack the computer, even with the guy in there patrolling. Then when hacked, you can unlock the door.
Otherwise you can always use one of those Automatic Unlocking Devices, to hack the computer.

The armory doesn't really have anything unique from what I saw anyway, shotguns, combat rifles and that's about it.

another point I gotta give mad credits to the devs for is the level design. fucking. epic. there are so many ways to complete a quest or a mission it's easy to miss different alternative routes.

I know it's possible to hack the computer, I just can't do it.. lv 3 security even w/ level 4 capture is too difficult for me.

If the PEPS weapon isn't quiet, then it's not much good to me.. I'm going purely non-lethal.. was just wondering if it would be that much better than the stun gun.

Capture levels don't decrease difficulty, you need a separate upgrade for that, nuke and worm type viruses can be utilized however. Smile

Crude, perhaps but I felt it appropriate, didn't kill her though, needs to suffer first.
(Landlord got the same treatment once I figured out the story with the mirror via her computer.)





(Best to just leave them for now I guess depending on how the game progresses, never seen anyone wake up from unconsciousness during missions though but they're alive at least.)

EDIT: Well whoops, shot them and loaded the earlier save, they're still classed as dead, ah well.

i feel the same way , first i was WOW so much stuff to touch and then Sad
nothing is interactive only 1 thing is the whole ROOM i can use and when you don't have this crappy orange glow, you don't know shit what stuff is interactive , i may now sound as a retard when i say that i need this "Feature" to keep playing ,but when its off this game turns into one of those shit finding games "Find one thing in a chaos of stuff"... heck even a simple thing like fucking things up "knock that shit and trow it on the floor Half-life style" can't be done... all props are glued

well what can i say more the "my pillow has a boner" is the perfect summary , all i can see is a cover base shooter with dialog trees , invisible time limits and mini games .. i see Mass Effect 2 [not 1] , i see Alpha Protocol...i see a interactive movie, those gameplay mechanics i see... that pillow statement translates to this "when you turn off your brain your inner child will have fun" ... will i enjoy it YES but its not the game that i wanted
