The facial animations are really poor, npcs look like talking manequins, though it might be beacuse of my low gfx settings and dx9. Are they any better on full gfx/dx11?

It's not THAT early though. Some will get better, the majority will remain the same IMO.

I can deal with the low-poly models and the poor facial animation (let's not forget; Deus Ex was fugly.. even for the time) as long as they replace those god-fucking-awful rendered cutscenes with PROPER in-game cutscenes instead. Much like MK9, the switch from rendered to in-game is too jarring and just serves to ruin the atmosphere - though it's far worse in DXHR than in MK9.

They are not going to replace them, these are the ones Goldtooth (same guys that directed the CGI trailers) created months ago.
I hate them as well, but at least I hope the final ones are going to have higher bitrate.

They're of such low quality, I struggle to believe EM are going to keep them for the final game. That would just be... well... retarded.

I don't care about the cutscenes, I don't care about facial animations - I think both do their job well. One, only one thing needs to be done, proper controls - no jitter, no acceleration, no delay, no X, Y difference. They do that, I will buy multiple copies.

I don't know, I played very little, but the facial animations seemed far from bad/poor to me, quite decent actually.

No, DX11 can't fix animations... but it can, by way of tessellation, be good for the models. Can't do jack shit about textures either, lol. To me the controls felt absolutely fine, I had no real issues to speak of (Y axis was a touch on the slow side) - it's the cutscenes that got me. For a game so monumentally cutscene heavy like the Deus Ex series, you can't have those 640x480 stretched, noisy, horrid excuses for movies playing instead of using in-game assets. You just can't. It goes against all reason.

The crappy cutscenes was the first thing I noticed. I assumed they were gonna replace them with higher quality versions in the full game. Don't see them replacing it entirely with in-game ones - wouldn't make much sense to create the cutscenes in the first place then.
Also, the highlighting could use some tweaking. I have disabled it from the start, but it might be nice to still have an option to have some sort of highlight on the loot items or those datapads. At least when you are closer, otherwise it's sometimes tough to spot what you can or can't pick up from all the clutter, especially in the beginning.

@MinderMast
Collectable items, such as ammo and credit chits (another 20 credits? Suuuure) have a kind of loot glint/shimmer to them that happens every so often.

I had, no dice. What bothers me most right now, is the stutter I get, when things turn ugly. It never drops below 95-100 fps, and my CPU is a 2600k, and when the stutterings come, the CPU is under 100 % load on one core, if I don't mess around, or if I disable affinity of core 0, then 2-3 others go up to 100%. Lal. - this I think they will remedy
Then there's the slight delay, just enough so you can't move and shoot at the same time, this is due to how mouse input is handled - I suspect it doesn't directly control your character, rather it controls the input to the xb36 pad control algorithms, which control the character. Seen this before, and usually it never gets fixed.

He's talking about the bug list publishers give to the journos along with a press demo, that explain which things are bugs/not yet implement features/etc that will be fixed in the retail so that the journos don't mention them.
I would like to know what else is in that bug list..

Currently finishing up the factory clean up.
The lack of melee and the fact that there is an energy cost for a takedown bothered me quite a bit, so I went with 10mm-Pistol-Headshot-Jensen!
Too bad that I don't have a silencer... yet.

I thought Direct X API is just for creating certain effects and nothing more?

Just clocked in 12 hours, and I'm just about to fly off to the park, where I assume it all ends... which is sad, because I really like this game, if they fix the controls, might even beat tw2 for goty, but I can't tell for sure, because ... well, it might be nostalgia kicking in.
What's known for sure, is that it beats ME1 and AP (and I think AP equals ME1 in every aspect save for polish), and to mention ME2 in the same sentence as DXHR would do EM a great disservice.
So, there's still one game that could beat both these, and that's risen 2, for me, nothing beats a good DnD experience or a good gothic experience, in that order.

Small question about the area outside police station
Spoiler: | How do I disable the electricity in the alleway just east of the police station? I have been running around crazy looking for some switch but I can't find it, couldn't find enough boxes to make a bridge over it either. Would appreciate some help |

You don't. To get into that alleyway, you need to exit into it via the sewers

There's an alternate way to get, where that place leads, try searching for it.
Hint: Spoiler: | It's the sewers - but you can also get there from the second floor of the police station |
