Heheheh, I assume it has come to this dreadful decision of uninstalling the game only because it was tough and tricky to beat the creature in question? Cool Face

replaying right now. Not the best game graphically speaking, but very fun gameplay, specially when you kick the big daddies in ass for little sisters.

Thinking about the Minerva dlc. Has no gfwl dlc ever been cracked?

That's right. Hmm, I don't see why Minerva isn't released with a cracked 1.5 patch. After 5 patches, the game should be fixed up pretty good now.

Fallout 3 DLC are just ESM and BSA archives copied over with no protection or anything, not a true LIVE dependent DLC, similarly GTA IV Episodes had a stand-alone retail release and the DLC version integrated to the main game.

So whatever system Minerva's Den uses, it is very hard to do?

It's a LIVE DLC requiring the Windows Live client (For the files to be found and used at all.) and ties it to your user account for verification and authorization, you'd need to crack LIVE itself for that to be bypassed as far as I understand it and that's never been done.
(Steam hasn't been cracked either as a weird example though it has been emulated somewhat, similar approach might work for LIVE via some .dll hack or whatever but that's just a guess, ties into Windows also which likely further complicates things.)

EDIT: Or a modified/hacked account to use universally or some such, of course that would likely be disabled and removed really quick on the Windows platform but supposedly there's something like that for the X360 if the console itself has been adjusted first.

I see. Thank you for the info Smile

You know, it's not like I can't afford this dlc, it's about me being unwilling to sign up for LIVE even though I own a couple of legit LIVE games, BS2 being one of them.

I know there's a lot of hate towards Windows LIVE (It's sort of a port of the X360 system itself with some smaller changes.) similar to the issues around say Steam or how Gamestop took over Impulse.

I haven't had a issue with LIVE as such but I understand the complaints and remarks about it.
(Rather bloated and as a overlay it might conflict with other stuff, full anti cheat suite and protection which can also interfere with many programs and likely isn't all that effective against real hacks, no dedicated server support for most titles unless extra effort is taken due to the matchmaking system, easily damaged or corrupt account details, saves or so and likely more.)

Yeah, all that sure sounds like "fun" Laughing I'm gonna wait a little longer for a warez version of Minerva.

Btw. Have you seen a changelog for the latest BS2 patch? according to patchesscrolls.de there are possible fixes besides support for Minerva, but they haven't been listed yet on that site.

Seen no info regarding 1.5 but as you mention and with 1.4 being more oriented towards fixing some of the common complaints it's likely just DLC support by adding to the game/framework of the engine to better handle the content.
(New functionality perhaps?)

As J Beckman said, there is a problem with Live dlc as those have a license file (.lic) and afaik that system hasn't been cracked yet Sad

Laughing I also "broke down" yesterday and bought it. And you are right, it's quite good, but MAN I wish I could be rid of that GFWL Sad

So, can you buy DLC on live and play with pirated version or mini image? Never used Live before.

I think you can use an mini image, but you can't make purchased dlc work with a warez copy of BS2.

No serials required? So I install BS2, mount the mini image, patch to 1.5, create live account, buy dlc, login to game with live account, play dlc?

no, you need an online working gfwl account.
for this, look here: http://www.nfohump.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=57282

you can buy another gfwl game and activate a warez version of bioshock 2 with it. at least it worked like that some months ago. can anyone confirm?
