One of the coolest things about the profession system, besides having a primary and a secondary, is that you're limited to having use of 8 skills at any one time. You can know every skill in both your profressions (I think, maybe not all for secondary), but you have to pick 8 to use. This adds a LOT of strategy to the game, as you have to specialize, and focus on a role for your character. In a game like WoW, you pretty much know what to expect from someone just based on their class. He's a rogue? He'll probably stealth, backstap, and stunlock you to death. Paladin? You'll get tanked. Etc, etc etc. In Guild Wars, your enemies aren't so predictable. For example, you could rush up on a Elementalist/Mesmer as a warrior and end up getting your ass handed to you because the elementalist has an anti-warrior build, with lots of damage subverting enchantments and point black AOE damage spells that take you down quick if you arent being backed up by a monk.
Bottom line, this game oozes with strategy, and requires :shock" SKILL! THAT, in my opinion, is what MMORPG"s have been neglecting for so long. Any stupid schmuck with 8 hours a day could be a godlike character. Not so with Guild Wars.

Perfect, thanks! So, I'm trying to build a Ranger/Monk, have some ranged ranger skills/a beast, heal and res... how likely is that? Plus, how easy is it to swap out those 8 skills, can I have a fight, then decide I want to add more healing and just do it there and then? Does it require cash or finding someone? When do you learn your seccond proffession (in RGP mode)..
When doing PVP, how the hell do you learn your skills??

You have to equip skills before you leave a town or enter a fight. You can't change them midway through.

You can swap out skills any time you in a city or pvp gathering area. Doesnt cost anything. Thats another awesome thing about this game, there aren't really any money or time sinks. Very streamlined.
Same goes for PvP. You can swap out skills whenever you arent in a match. Hence, you arent stuck to one skill build per character, just your professions.
One more thing I thought I should mention about the pvp:
Since the game world is basically split into three worlds, America, Europe and Korea, the 3 countries play matches against eachother in one of the pvp arena's, the Hall of Heroes. When a certain country has a number of wins in the Hall of Heroes above the other countries, they are 'Favored by the Gods'; basically just a simple way of telling you which country is 'winning' for the day. It's not really that elaborate, but it's still pretty awesome to think of entire countries of players playing against other entire countries of players.
Down with the Koreans!!!!

I went to EB today and they were sold out. Went to Walmart right next to it and they had like a dozen copies of it.

That's because EBGAMES have the ITHAS BOW, which is the coolest special pre-order item of them all.

Well any of the regulars could join I suppose. But we would be on the european server I think.
Wait, I could be guildmaster! That would be awesome.

If i remember correctly, everyone was worried about this, so they made it so you can still play with everyone. When you enter the party forming areas or towns, you can change 'districts' (at max about 15+, they just manage the players) and there is a special international district, you can form parties there and trade ect ect.
