No it's not.
And I'm pretty sure they complain about the graphics in general, not the number of settings. |
and whats wrong with those graphics? its the best looking rpg on pc right now.

Spoiler: | Theres a crafting diagram for a sword or armor with dragon parts. How can you craft this as you only fight the dragon at the end of the act, and even if you choose to kill the dragon you dont get any dragon parts, and theres no merchants available in the epilogue? |
|
Spoiler: | There is a sidequest when you talk to the Vran wisp, and then you have the offer to respec your character or fight the guy giving the offer. If you kill him (the toughest fight in the game BTW) you get dragon's scales. Also, if you did the "River of mystery"(not sure of the name, I'm translating based of Polish version) quest throughout the 2 acts, you can open a final chest in the sewers and get the scheme for Vran armor, the best armor in the game. Also if you do the gargoyles sidequest you get the best steel and silver swords, and also boots, pants and gloves of the Elder Blood, which combined with the Vran armor is the best build in the game. |
|
Spoiler: | yeah i got all that, just woundering about the dragon scales. And yeah the operator was a very tough fight. Him alone is one thing but his two gargoyles are a bitch to kill. Will have to find a way to beat him on my second playthrough, thnx for the info. |
Dont mess with God, he can impregnate your girlfriend/wife without taking his pants off!

maybe I should lower difficulty...^^"
On medium, impossible to kill more than 2 guys at once in Prologue. Tried potions and also to block ennemies with magic, but nothing to do, it's a kill in one shot on me, fuck. Don't know, but is it really necessary to spend life time in this kind of hard software lol

dude, cmon - you have block/dodge, targeting, spells, potions, traps, 'granades' (well, maybe you dont have those in prologue, i dont remember) - use them. Essentially, almost every fight in this game can be won by using only dodge and quick attack (lmb)

I made a fresh install of the game and do I have to install the EFGIS patch from the skidrow folder in order to install the new patch 1.1 ?

If you have already installed and cracked the game (with skidrow) and dlcs:
- move your dlc files to another folder
- restore original paul.dll (dunno if neccessary)
- apply patch PROPER FOR YOUR VERSION
- apply paul.dll and dlcs

and can also be lost just as easily. The targeting is a little wonky and leads to some cheap deaths. I've had my guy leap towards me, past 3 enemies to target some far off guy in larger battles. A couple of times this resulted in me diving into a group of 4 enemies. They then formed a perfect square around me.
As I was recovering from said massive leap, I was basically 2 shotted.
All 4 attacked at once draining whatever shield I had left, and then followed up by killing me when all 4 attacked together again. The problem was in the perfect square I couldn't dodge out.
the second time, I had my shield upgraded, so one of them took some blow back, but his knock back animation really didn't push him far enough out and I still couldn't roll out. I rolled like 1/2 a foot, then got smoked.

Aard | Yeah unfortunately in those situations I really don't have any time to react and do anything. By the time you've tried a dodge, that's it, you're dead. Next time it happens I'll try a push to get out. But likely I'll get smoked just as fast while I try to cast it.

Spoiler: |
Drink potions before the fight. Before you even talk to him, put on Quen. After you talk to him immediately roll behind him, and use a strong attack on his back, it drains about 40% of his health on Hard. (believe me, this fight on hard is fucking brutal ). Then quickly pull out your silver sword, and keep rolling around. Put on quen again as soon as you can, and try rolling behind the gargoyles' back, and use strong attack. Then spam the strong attack on the gargoyles until quen runs out. When the operator is alone, wait till he wants to use the fireball, roll around his back, use strong attack. If you do this right, you need to do this around 3 times on hard to kill him, unless you manage to hit him strongly 2 times in the back. Never approach him from the front, only from the back. |

Use the "Battle of Thermopylae - technique" and make your enemies fall in a file formation when they close in on you. If they get too close, retreat by rolling around and get to a safer place.
If your health is too low, continue rolling around, running until you've recovered significantly. Then get back to the fight.
Use Ard on an enemy to distract him while you're sword-fighting another.
For enemies with shields, light attack to create an opening and then heavy attack.
In some places, enemies retreat after you've run further away from them.
Use 'Shift' key to block.
Press and hold movement keys when light-attacking multiple enemies. Works against weaker enemies.

It is, it's nine gigs. Not some bullshit patch like the others got
I'm guessing it downloads the whole patched file again instead of unpacking and patching it. |
Lol! Kinda fail if you ask me. Here's the CookedPC dir:
___
alchemy_suit.dzip 1k
dlc_finishers.dlc 1k
...
pack0.dzip 9.694.623k (game main file as in NOT DLC)
...
swordsman_suit.dzip 1k
...
___
So there's your 9GB patch!
Makes little sense though, as I find the file handling/updating method quite unpractical. But this is Steam, eh...
