Yes.
Real hackers have hacked it years ago and than just let go. Now people whine because they can't play there pirated games. The hackers that could do anything about it, really don't give a shit about warez.

The PS3 scene has gotta be the worst ever. Bunch of ego pricks. Why dont they just shut their pieholes. So typical, "blabla not gonna tell you how, blabla dont ask", if youre not gonna tell than keep it to yourself...

That's pretty cool. Now I just need to find an enclosure for my spare drive and I'll be set. Are there any particular compatibility issues with it?

Sadly my mind ISN'T blown. I've never been interested in Linux on the PS3, since it pales in comparison to the PC version. Linux PPC won't run x86 code unless through a VM, so it's not as if you could use the power of the PS3 to run Linux games anyhow.

Oh don't be so dramatic. It's like when there was no solution for newer PSP firmwares and everyone thought that scene was dead too. Given enough time, there will be a custom firmware for 3.60+ as well.

there is a discussion about the QA Flags at PSX Scene, seems like some people are trying to Active this, and some progress actually been made,I suggest people need to follow that thread
http://psx-scene.com/forums/f149/qa-flags-discussion-86504/
I can be wrong, but AFIK knowing how to active QA Flags will get us to even more advanced level since the Metldr keys as been released?

I wouldn't hold your breath just yet, but it certainly is more promising than half of the news we hear these days.

maybe good news, source psx-scene
Quote: | We have been in direct contact via email with a group that is calling themselves NO_ONE and they released to the public today an outline of a possible attack theory on doing a hardware Dual-Boot PS3 Firmware, that might in the future lead to decrypting the new keys found on v3.60+ firmwares!
Here is their E-Mail earlier this afternoon to us here at PSX-SCENE:
Quote: 05/23/2011 For Immediate Release:
PS3_Ed2.pdf
The beginning of dual-firmware PS3:
The technique outlined in the .PDF will help people learn more about 3.6x firmwares.
The solution relies on the implementation of a second NOR/NAND Flash.
Some technical limitations have been identified. But time will help us to remove them.
The information in the document is still theoretical for the moment, however please post results from your testing.
We believe knowledge and information wants to be free.
Learn what you can and help contribute to making the PS3 scene a better place.
Released by No_One.
Maybe in the near future we will see soon something like this, that was done by hackaday for the Nintendo Wii NAND's:
Below is the attached PDF file, in-case the above link goes dead for some reason.
Our many thanks to NO_ONE for contacting us, and lets see if this gets the developers together to work on making it happen in the very near future for the PS3 Owners out there wishing for a solid solution to the problem of CFW vs. OFW! |

It's got trojan written all over it. I downloaded the files just to see what was inside. It's an .exe file that when opened gives you an advert for 3.61 JB but you have to do one of three surveys to 'unlock' the download link. Not that I did the surveys but we all know these don't unlock shit and you end up with a trojan ridden machine.

I just got an old ps3 with a bad blu-ray drive that i got for free. Do you guys still think that the "cobra usb" is the 'best' device? I really won't be buying any games, etc so i don't plan on fixing the drive (already have a blu-ray player) and just plan on using an external usb drive. Thanks
