lol thx for the fast pm tet666 definitely an improvement faster launching of the game and around 5 to 12 fps gain depending on the area.

np, stange isnt it? there seems to be something wrong with the copyrotection and it seems to affect the performance of the engine.

Using the unprotected files speeds my game up too, but now all voices are gone, so that might have something to do with it Razz Any idea what I can do to get them back?

With the unprotected files I get a much much faster start up of the game and also faster loading screens, but no speed increase in the game. Faster loading is quite nice tho, a nice change.

Or buy the game and support the developer and grab the patch that way Razz

I'm dubious to buy it considering all the performance issues i have Sad

Seems even with low or ultra settings I get pretty much always the same... 25-45fps
And just doesnt feel fluid enough to enjoy the game at present.

What's you CPU? If I can get fluid framerates with high-ultra using my HD5850, you shouldn't have a single problem with your HD5870.

It's an i5 750 Not overclocked.. 4 gb ram... Its odd just dont understand, im using the base skidrow version, not changed any files like the others here.. using latest 11.5a drivers..

To everyone that has CTD in Chapter 1 after reaching Flotsam try this:

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=9583842&linkID=9240697

it appears that the same issue was with Witcher 1 also

This is for 32-bit Windowses. On 64-bit Windows, 32-bit application can automatically use up to 4 GB of RAM for itself (vs 2 or 3 GB on 32-bit Win).

With skidrow version and files from unprotected.rar
1) much faster starting up
2) slight fps increase in certain areas, not much in others
3) a lot higher gpu load in crossfire but not much gain

After renaming .exe to dirt2.exe (with radeonpro)
4) between 5-10 fps gain on the above
5) but lower crossfire load

Paul.dll seems completely obsolete with this exe btw...

Just backed up everything and fired it up via remote with fraps, was inside the tent and was showing 40 fps... but i think thats pretty much how it was before.. Naturally though a remote session might not be giving accurate data so i will try when i am home full screen...

Thanks for the post but I imagine its much the same..

It does load a LOT faster though which is a bonus i suppose!

Changed something in the config, then changed it back, so it had to resave the file and everything works again, thanks!

Some personal feed-back on new *cough* "noDVD" *cough*...

There seems to be an increase in GPU load (as GPU temps now go up to ~74 degrees C, compared to previous load ~65 degrees - measured with MSI Afterburner).

Also loading time on launcher starting game has been reduced with roughly 40-50% here.

Can't put my finger on FPS gains though yet. Seems to be slightly better, but might be a placebo, as I already had decent FPS even with SkidRow's crack method.

And as for SecuRom and games going hand in hand with happy performance all I can "say" is... Rolling Eyes

I haven't noticed any performance increase, exempt much faster game start-up.

Using the GOG EXE, and launched directly from it and not the launcher, almost HALVES the loading speed - both getting into game and between areas. Much better improvement. The framerate isn't affected though, still the same as it was.
