I have 9600 GT and the same CPU (specs are in sig), will report tomorrow, haven't started the game yet, didn't have time today. Will be playing in 1280x1024 though (so 1280x720 actually). |
Alright. Take note of your FPS too, how it performs etc. Thanks! |
~30 FPS high settings, bloom, SSAO, motion blur off. Only around 50% usage on CPU, but near 100% GPU, so it's definately the bottleneck. The new drivers did nothing for me, so I guess they only help if you have 5xx series or a dual-core CPU. Also tried playing on XP, but the performance was the same and there were some glitches, so I'll play on 7. Overall, framerate could be better, but it feels pretty smooth, apart from an occasional hitch.
As for the game, the writing is absolutely brilliant, at least in polish.
EDIT: LOL, first post twice in a row.

Found the combat to be hard at first but after playing for a while you learn to not rush into big groups and take out the fast and easy fighters first. And you'll get a hang on dodging and countering attacks.
Game is very nice so far, Act 1 starts with amazing graphics...
Thx @ the guys that helped me to get past the part where I got stuck

Btw: Game runs very playable with these settings on my Athlon II X4 640, 6GB RAM, HD4850(512MB)
@1920x1080 I had to turn off to many nice effects and still had lower FPS. Need a faster card with more VRAM I'd say

SWEET!!
From all these people complaining I just assumed it ran horrible. Metro runs damn good for me vsynced at 120fps so I figured this game must require more power or something. Good to know it runs better than or at least equal to Metro 2033

He's playing in 1280x720, like me. And 4850 is quite a bit faster than 8800 or 9600 or even 9800.
1280x720 = 0.9 Mpix
1680x1050 = 1.75 Mpix (almost twice as much)
8800 is definately the bottleneck at 1680x1050

Oh so that's why. I get like really good FPS on that resolution, like 45-50 FPS, but it looks horrible on my monitor which is 22"

ofc I'm playing at 1280x720 (@47"). With these settings I'd stay below 10FPS on 1080p.
Here are some screenies:

I've surfaced for a moment not too long cause my short term memory aint what it used to be which means if I stay outta the game too long I forget which saves relate to the particular branch of a decision point. It would be good if the save feature permitted some sort of naming so that a suffix or somesuch can be added to help those of us playing different story threads simultaneously could keep tack.
That is my only criticism. Yes there are a few glitches but I haven't run into a gamefucker per se. They are mostly afaik to do with minor inconsistencies around the myriad hardware combos PC users prefer.
The only workable cure would be to limit the range of hardware the game can run on I.E. make the PC like a console. I don't want that and I seriously doubt many others would find that solution appealing once they tried it.
The only other way is to test on a few hundred thousand different combos, which could work but it would mean that instead of the current couple weeks of 'in the wild' user testing, the resolution of unpredicted issues would take months, maybe years and cost so much that the price of the game would be astronomic.
Lastly I am totally unsurprised to see the usual "CDP are C*nts" posts from the same people who told us blizzard were bottom feeding shirtlifters, bioware sucked dead men's dicks and all the other "I've been robbed' whines of adolescents first confronting the real world.
Except many of these posters are long past adolescence, they should know how the world works, yet seem unable to acknowledge straightforward reality based scenarios.
Instead in the lead up to a game's release we get ridculous 'puppy love' style declarations of undying amour for a dev shop which like most other human endeavours is a mixture of wanting to do the right thing and wanting to improve things for nearest & dearest.
The ridiculous standards of christ like ethos which these posters burden the game and the game maker with makes their post release reaction inevitable.
Nothing could possibly live up to the lofty ideals these posters ascribe to the devs when they are in fan-boi adoring the ground the dev shop walks on mode; so when the reality of the game doesn't meet these facile ambitions, the nfohump thread gets subjected to a barrage of whines, bitches and infantile threats.
Why? Has it ever occurred to the perpetrators of this silliness that the solution to their problem must lie within themselves where the problem also resides?
Sure this is nothin to get yer tits in a tangle over n all, but after the 57th time a halfway decent game is released and this happens, it does get pretty boring, let alone a potential goty - especially when you hafta wade thru all the derp drones to find out whether some issue is due to an innate design problem or is merely down to yer own gear not doin what it should.

While I agree with most of what you state, unfortunately, society has taken a turn for the worse, and can be blamed for most of what you say
Ignorance, lack of respect, lack of patience, wanting too much, relying on 'hype', repeating monotonous phrases/images time after time, and a general lack of understanding in the basics of communicating with other human beings, are all too common on every forum these days.
It ain't gonna stop, so sit back and enjoy the game, virtually, and in reality

Anyone know how to force real anti aliasing? The in-game AA kind of sucks and I still see jaggies even with Ubersampling turned on. I tried forcing it with Nvidia Inspector but no difference.

When half the PC gamers are continuously pressing download/play/activate like maniacs for hours and hours, counting the seconds till release, then you know some shit is going down, hehe. Lol zerg rush.
Every company fucks up, one after the other, Crytek released a multiplayer demo, which some of us just couldn't play. Ubisoft had their activation fucked for AssCreed afair. Biowhore had screwed up with their DLC I believe.
I know people paid some good money and they expect to immediately play the game and not waste a second, but daaaamn mofos. Damn. There are other things to do in life.
I've been waiting for the game like crazy and still I didn't leave my PC on overnight to finish the download, screw that. Also, I'm not gonna play it if it's still buggy.
Get a hold of yourselves.

Zoltan was great in TW1 and is not bad in TW2, but Dandelion was very wooden in TW1. I much prefer his voice in TW2. Triss, I think I like better in TW1.

So did CDPR disappear into the unknown? Where are those "soon" and "asap" patches that they promised? Where's the freakin' 16:10 support. Why are the forums still not up. Argh. Fuck. The game is amazing though, just finished the prologue. Off to bed now, laters.

On the end of that piece of string.
