Yeah, untill now AP2.5 hasn't been a problem. That's if you have the latest fw; and sabin1981 stated a couple of times that his box doesn't.

Just read this in the July issue of Xbox World 360 magazine: expect the size upgrade to be included in 2011's autumn dashboard update and Forza Motorsport 4 to be among the first retail games to use the luxury of the extra storage.

Aye and I've just updated to the latest, current, dashboard -- so no more AP25 games for me. Luckily I'm not interested in any of the current AP25 games, and I had to update now before the next dash comes and wipes out all backup play total.

The thing is, there's a reason they're offering this -- if the drive is physically incapable of reading the XGD3 format, then you won't be able to play any new games that use it, backups or retail. Keeping the machine would be fine for older titles, but you'd be SOL on new games. Shit, if my machine was like that I'd snap Microsoft's offer up! c4eva has already cracked XGD3, even for the newest LiteOn 0225 drives on the Slim.

I'm aware of that, I mean that I would prefer a world without XGD3 where I can keep my old console that reads everything. It's possible that XGD3 eliminates some core weaknesses of the disc format and allows for stricter antipiracy measures in the future.
Step 1: roll out XGD3, offer to replace old consoles for free
Step 2: wait while all pirates swap their old consoles
Step 3: show the pirates what XGD3 is REALLY capable of
It's a worst case scenario, I know. I just mean to say that this isn't the best thing that could happen to me.

hehe the new update is not compatible with older drives that has a new firmware flash for the DVD drive LULZ making original older XBG2 disks unreadable... so what MS does, they replace those machines with new S , but only if you meet one condition : they check your console drive firmware tough internet if it has those problems ... makes you kinda paranoid how much information they gather from your console though Xlive

Flashed with LT+... What will this update do ? We wont be able to play already burned games? or what? It will turn into flames?

Well the link you posted says
