No, only on first glance does it look like a gta/sandbox game.
It's much closer to an oldschool (point and click) adventure. it has the odd brawl, tail/chase or gunfight in it, but 90% is interogating and cluefinding (which is the best part as well I might add).
It has some sidemissions (dispatch asking for a unit to aid on a streetcrime) and some collectibles (which has a seperate storyline up till now, with cutscenes and all, which at least makes me look out for them which is unique for collectibles for me) but its totally lineair compared to gta. A good thing imo, dont get me wrong, but dont expect a sandbox game from this.

I mentioned a couple of pages ago, if you patch the iso the update found on the disc will be useless, therefore you gotta download it from here and install it in order to get the game running.

That's exactly what I did with my Jasper, updated the firmware to LT+ 1.1 then updated the dashboard to 2.0.12625.0 and all games are running.

its amazing initially...i have a feeling its going to get very meh once the novelty of clues/interrogating wears off.
as said before, the action side of the game (driving, running, shooting) is piss poor to the point of being broken and would have benefited from being left out entirely. and of course the game as a whole has virtually zero replay value...but a lot of $$$ for team bondi via DLC
so a great game, but not game of the year imo, and definitely not worthy of the crazy hype its had (as usual!)
before i played it i thought i would buy it if for some reason i couldnt get a download - after playing for a while...nope, wouldnt buy.

I totally agree. Having a blast on this playthrough but 0 replay value.

I like the episodic nature of it, combined with the overarching backstory. It really works like a whodunnit where you try to keep ahead of the story, guess the outcome beforehand (nailed the first one on traffic desk huzzah). For fans of police procedurals, this is golden. Imagine this type of game with a license like Mentalist or Criminal Minds behind it...

I'd love a Criminal Minds game by Team Bondi... Would be so awesome... This game is definitely based on series too, you can see the inspiration, since it's divided into little chapters, like episodes, with flashbacks, and many actors you see on that kind of series are here.
And I agree about that other guy saying they look constipated when walking, cuz it's really true

Is that the voice of Kiefer Sutherland in the intro?
Sound quality for that was terrible

Well, I did have the game installed to the harddrive so my previous comments about the scenery pop up and textures loading too slow still remains. It does happen quite a lot, not during normal gameplay but rather when you drive up to a mission and you see a sign or something, then you'll see a very blurred texture and it becomes crisp only after like 3 - 4 seconds. I also suffer from that teleportation thing where npc's just suddenly appear a few feet further because the game tries to make up for the lag?
The game has pretty interesting cases and I'm still enjoying it. Sometimes I feel like a case is ending with a good result way too soon but I guess that depends on how you play. For me, this game is not as intense as Heavy Rain but it does do a lot of thinsg right. I'm not the best person to review this game though as I dislike GTA and Rockstar games in general.
I can only list the technical issues I am having with an installed game. But the issues mostly have to do with the Xbox 360 having reached the end of this gen. We really need some new horsepower to power these games...

A good reminder to check who the DEV TEAM are and build hype accordingly.

Played it for about 4h and I enjoyed every second of it , game is overall so far great ..yeah it have it's flaws but it's not ruining the experience at all for me. Great characters , voice acting ,animations , gfx is nice too especially interiors .. some cutscenes are amazing..story and cases are very interesting too.
It's nice to play something different for a change , Im bored of generic pew pew shooters .. mindless action games , rip offs etc.. can't wait to get my hands on 2nd and 3rd disc.
I would rate this game 9.0 / 10 so far..

I'd imagine those that hyped THEMSELVES up on it being affiliated with Rockstar and expecting to play Russel Crowe's character in LA Confidential, are the most disappointed. This game rocks so far. As someone mentioned the writing and mood are top notch, and they really did a number on the facial motion technology. Even if the rest of the animation doesn't match it; it's hard to care with the immersiveness of the performances.

They could be using assets from other R* games(models, textures, sounds, animations, etc). Witch I'm pretty sure they are, and those have nothing to do with the engine itself.
Seeing RAGE in GTA IV and RDR... this is definitely not using it. Game looks crappy as hell, so it's definitely Team Bondi's own tech; it even looks and runs like "fresh" tech. After the changes R* did with RAGE, especially in RDR(witch looked great and rad really well), I doubt they can put out a game on that engine looking as bad as this one(coupled with the other flaws this build has).
