^ Let me know. I'm lazy as hell and have been patching down to Wave 2; but don't know if its these crappy Memorex or what but I've had 10 coasters and not one good burn. Figured Id burn through the last 15 and hope for one good burn on Disc 1, and grab some verbs later.

Its a bit of a scam, driving is shit, cars way to light in handling. Shooting and enemy AI is crap. Game engine slow downs. Story and acting face tech cool. Need sleep , may be cool if it shows some challenge and actual game play

I guess that Ima have to break down and install the multi-disc plugin for dashlaunch on my JTAG. Unfortunately, it looks like it's going to be a while until the second and third discs are upped. Jackasses.

just confirming, wave patching seems to work fine. Went down to wave6, and it's good.
So for us with older firmware, either patch down to your appropriate wave or use the activate.iso
GG.

For those with the 360 version, can you do HDD install or does that require all the discs?

Most likely, although you might have to update your dashboard. I flashed my drive somewhere in 2006 with some Xtreme Garyopa flash and it has played absolutely everything since (requiring the occasional Dashboard update is all. As long as you don't expect to stay on Xboxlive you're golden ^^.
The plusside on old hitachi's is that they are AP 2.5 proof, the problem with all the Wave stuff only applies to newer flashes (where not booting a disc is a prevention to getting flagged for banning, those preventions arent in older flashes).

It's asking to update the dashboard. Does anyone know if it is safe to update from the disc? Or will it flash the drive?

It won't flash the drive, but it might implement new security measures allowing you to be detected or prevent stuff from booting (like AP2.5 games).

nooooo i value your opinion and it's exactly what i was afraid of! oh well at least if it sucks i dont have to worry with figuring out how to make that disc swap thing for jtags work and can go back to mindless masturbation for the day.

While all that is said above is true, it doesn't mean the game sucks.. You don't need to drive anyway, just ask your partner. Also, while running is kinda weird, some details are amazing... Same for fighting, while it's dodgy, some parts are amazing...
While the game is far from being as perfect as they were trying to show us, it's still one of my favorite game ever, and if you loved Heavy Rain, you will love it too.
Hell, heavy rain gameplay sucked ass, it didnt make it a bad game either...
Although, the 360 version has poor FPS during daylight for some reason, I guess that's because it's a PS3 port. But it has FSAA 4X, so no big jaggies... And graphically speaking, it looks the same as the PS3 videos I have seen... Nothing incredible, but the motion capture and the faces are incredible... Although after some interrogation, it's easy to see if they are lying or not...

I didn't think the driving in GTA IV was all that great; and from what most of the "leaked" reviews have said, the action sequences are the "worst" part of the game - yet they still feel qualified to give it high marks, which tells me the action isn't the bread and butter. . .at all. Which is great, since there are plenty of shooters/actioners on the market.

So, in the end, the game is basically like a huge interactive movie where emotional involvement and cinematic feeling replace the mere gameplay, amirite?
(I'm still quite jelly and hoping myself that it will suck )

What about screen tearing? Is it imminent? How often do the frames drop?
