You have 2 ways of doing this:
1. By using image files (.bmp)
Use either the built in (in virtualdub that is) logo filter or Neuron2's Logo Filter and select a logo which you have created and saved in .bmp format. To make it transparent, make sure to fill in the R, G, B codes of the background on which you made your 'logo'. Simply play around a bit with the settings, it's all pretty much straight forward.
2. By using .ssa subtitles loaded into textsub loaded into avisynth (This method is also more for the Text style logo's)
This is a more complicated way, but imo gives a 'crisper'/smoother result. I'm not going deep into this, but will tell you that to be able to do this you must know how to use AviSynth (scripts) and how to use .ssa subtitles to position the 'logo's'. The .ssa file can then be loaded into your AviSynth script using TextSub, supplied with VobSub (Not DVobSub, but the complete package)

lol i guess i worked everything out on my own.....but i click save to avi and it saves like a 5 gig file which should only be like a 200 mb file....it's strange, but i can convert it to vcd and when i do it the file size goes down to how big it should be

You've probably saved it as a raw avi, under the video tab you have the option to select the compression (e.g. xvid, divx...) you want to use. If you choose one of these it will be much smaller.
