You know, people can find out they don't like the game through demos.. Can't have that now can we?

I was in the UK for three weeks, and prior to that I was - as I said - thinking the game was an MMO in the Spore world. Sad

The game gets boring pretty fast. The levels are extremely boring, the graphics are boring, story is boring, items are boring. The only thing i liked was the fighting.

One thing devs are forgetting when making games is making you go "Wow". It's all very rehashed, reused. Specially the scenery.

What he said, but hopefully they dazzle me with the full release. I'm sooooo thirsty for an action RPG right now, I'll take just about anything (except Mythos).

The game is like 80% online and requires a constant internet connection to play. We'll see what happens.

CORRECTION: Darkspore executive producer Mike Perry has replied in the comments:

Hi gang, I'm the exec producer of Darkspore. Darkspore absolutely does not include any DRM of any kind. Believe me, none of us from Maxis wants anything to do with DRM.

Darkspore is a client/server online game, so yep, you do indeed need to be connected to the net to play. This is just like most other multiplayer online games like LoL, TF2, Guild Wars, etc. We store all of your progress and data on the servers, so you can install the game wherever you want. There are no restrictions of any kind.

Oh wow. So it's basically an MMO then. This doesn't look good.

It's comparable to Battleforge in some ways, has a offline option from what I can see in the options file though but it still needs to go trough the launcher and the online server to get in-game first it seems.

Oh well maybe it won't be so difficult then. Either way I wouldn't expect to see anything before Tuesday.

(EDIT: From what I can see and tell via the available media and other users opinions and such.) It's basically a part of Spore and it's mechanics with certain minor RPG elements and MP (co-op and PVP) as far as I'm aware, haven't played it though but I don't see it as a full RPG.

Ehhh, thanks Smikis/JBeckman... guess I won't be missing this afterall =) I'm still waiting for Crate Team to release Grim Dawn, but that's looking like it's going to take a good while yet. Hell, I'd buy into their pre-order scheme if we even had a DATE for when the alpha/beta started.

I'll give it a try once it's released. Primarily for the reason that I've got nothing else to play right now. Laughing

It plays alot like a regular action RPG, but much of the character development comes with unlocking new chars (who synergize with those you have).

It's not an RPG in the regular sense, but if you are thirsting for an action RPG (esp. one with out elves and loldragons) i'd say give it a try.

Demos arent always the best way. I remember when I played the demo for Redline. I thought the game was brilliant and me and my mates spoke about how much we wanted it and pretty much played the mp demo to pieces. Then finally the day came when it was released....turned out to be the biggest pos we've ever experienced.

So no, demos arent always the best way.

shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

Here is a little mini review from me.

So I bought this day one and I have to say it's actualy alot of fun. Yes there is loot grind but your characters levels are determined by your itemization which we all know itemization is addictive. The environments are soothing to look at with some melow punk sci-fi type music which is perfect.

You attack with your left mouse button (just like any typical hack & slash) and have a total 2 primary skills 3 main skills which 2 of them come from the other two heroes in your 3 man team. So you have 5 skills "overdrive". the 2 primary skills are different for each hero.

You have 25 heroes with 4 variants of each for a total of 100 heroes. With each creatures levels determined by there itemization you get an average squad "Level" which determines how far you can progress (IE: level 1-1 for those squad level 1-5, level 1-2 for those level 5-10, etc...)

Also the XP you collect in this case is used to unlock perks which you use DNA to purchase. You also use DNA to equip gear on your creatures which when you highlight the items it shows you how much DNA is required. You can save up the DNA as it carries over level to level and you can customize away based off the available DNA.

One other cool feature is when you finish the level you return to your ship and have the option to stop where you are and collect your reward or continue on in the hopes of having 2 chances to get nice loot at the end and so forth havn't been able to do a 3rd but that may be due to my squad level being to low to progress strait up to a 3rd level down the road.

All in all this game has been enjoyable for the time i've put in. The game as is definatly a 7.5 with time, patches, more map variations this game can be an 8.
