just remembered reading about a game a while back (couple of months ago i guess).
i think it was being made by a russian (or some eastern bloc country) company; it had oldschool 2d isometric graphics and was supposed to be quite difficult with a deep(ish) storyline and a cool spellcasting system.
actually now that i think about it, there might have been two games like that being talked about - one that was party-based and another one where you only had one character, the latter one had a story that focused on the inquisition and heresy iirc.

im trying to find what the game (or games) was called and if they are released. also, its not kings bounty!

Nothing of your description seems to indicate it's The Broken Hourglass.

or Age of Decadence.

Are you sure it's not King's Bounty?

Yes, Inquisitor probably. Unfortunately it doesnt seem to be very good, i read a user review on rpgwatch some months ago. Like many of those games we get from russia, czech etc it's often really nice and interesting concepts, only not so well executed because a very low budget. Hopefully it'll be out in english (and fully patched) some day.

inquisitor is the game i was thinking of.
sad to see that it didnt turn out very good (and is still unreleased in english!)

the games posted by Roger_Young seem quite interesting though. on the topic of magicka - that game rocked.
