How do you guys feel about this??

http://blogs.forbes.com/eco-nomics/2011/04/13/canada-prepares-to-introduce-plastic-money/

I haven't come up with any real cons other than it using oil to make plastic unless there's been something new created over the years I may have missed.

We had the 20 ILS bills also turn to plastic, so people could still use the bills after putting them through the washing machine. Laughing

I've noticed the people that design money have some kind of gerontophilia fetish. They're always drawing old wrinkled dudes on the notes! The Euro and the now defunct Dutch currency guilder have much more modern designs I think.

Sweden is getting new people on it's currency.. entertainers this time (throw away kings and stuff).

Astrid Lindgren, our upcoming 20-bill = author behind Pippi Longstocking and various other books that became movies. Greta Garbo, Ingmar Bergman... Just one non-entertainer, Dag Hammarskjöld.

Quote:
Dag Hjalmar Agne Carl Hammarskjöld (29 July 1905 – 18 September 1961) was a Swedish diplomat, economist and author. He was the second Secretary-General of the United Nations. He served from April 1953 until his death in a plane crash in September 1961. He is the only person to have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize posthumously. Hammarskjöld remains the only U.N. Secretary-General to die in office.

U.S. President John F. Kennedy called Hammarskjöld “the greatest statesman of our century.”

Don't you have coins for 20 NOK etc.?

And shouldn't it be the other way around? If your currency is strong you can have currency in lower denominations? Wink

And to debunk that there's a huge difference between NOK and SEK (it was, once):

1 NOK = 1.14453 SEK
