So anyone actually played it and have a mini review?

I got it running on my 1.51 or 1.6 FW 360 (can't remember which FW is on there).

*SPOILERS FREE*

I played it last night with a friend (split-screen). We beat the coop campaign. There were some pretty tricky puzzles along the way. I like all the changes they've made and coop helping tools they've added (you can have pointing indicators, "stand here" indicators, start a countdown that will tick for both players for timed puzzles, etc.

The humor is solid, too. My friend and I were laughing our asses off at some of the jokes and mishaps we ran into along the way. I think they did a great job of teaching new concepts (even though we already knew the new additions from the trailers) and ease you into the challenge, while still leaving you nicely confused when trying to figure out how to move 2 players through a stage.

The whole thing took us like 5.5-6 hours I think. We're both Portal 1 vets, so take that with a grain of salt if you play with somebody that's not a huge gamer or doesn't know Portal very well.

I just started Singleplayer this morning, so far the humor is even better than the coop Smile

If two Portal veterans need 5.5-6 hours for the coop campaign Valve's claim of coop being 2x longer than Portal 1 is totally accurate. I'm impressed. Maybe the SP campaign is really 7.5 hours long.

Prepare yourself for a loooong wait there. Very Happy
I'm hoping for a Blu-ray drive solution that will eliminate the need of cfw everytime Sony comes with a newer ofw.

I havent booted it up since 2 or 3 months, will it RROD ? Wink
Anybody knows if it works straight ? I heard theres an update on the disc. Is it "safe" to do it ?
I think I'm on Benq LT 1.0, no jtag

Thanks !

gotta have lt1.1+ or something

only the beta dash has the patch thing, also it overwrites your firmware on the drive so when you go to the new dash you'll have to reflash your drive
no one knows any effects yet

Just beat the singleplayer. I started at around 7-7.5 hours ago but I took breaks totaling an hour or so.

Still won't spoil anything, but the ending is cool Smile

I'll wait for the PC version to unlock, and then play my Steam copy all the way through again. There's just one thing missing from it right now that I hope is added later...

I currently have 2.0.12625 dasboard. Will this game work directly? or does it force the beta dashboard update which fucks up the firmware and restores your drive's virginity?

Lol dashboard firmware is totally different to DVD drive firmware. If you have the latest dash you will be fine, if not, install it.

Errrr....So what was all that talk about the new dashboard update (post 1265) flashing your drives firmware and reverting them to stock?

If by latest dash, you mean the one I have mentioned above, then I should be good to go right?

Latest dashboard is the one which users subscribed to Beta Live Program wherein they were given Halo Reach disc and updated to a new dash the current dashboard are safe if AP 2.5 games and Live is not considered.

EDIT:- News from Russian forums
Quote:
Russian hackers have also released a set of AP2.5 patches for all regional AP25-protected-games on both the current 12625 and 13142 beta dash. They have been confirmed to be working indeed, but according to Team Xecuter they are unsafe to use on LIVE:

I'll re-iterate; will Portal 2 work with 2.0.12625 dasboard? I'm aware of the BETA dashboard, but does Portal 2 need that or will the last public update be sufficient?

Hate to break it to you, but the discussion was all in conjunction with JTAG's freestyle dash version. Since I don't own a JTAG and no clue how their dash launches work, hence the question.

I'll quote daggers and NFOAC's posts in succession:

This is the point where I got confused. Any-hoo, I think I got my answer. Might as well get busy now. Wink

Played it for about 6 hours last night, think I'm very close to the end now. I did however get stuck at some stages, and the solutions were pretty easy - sometimes I just imagine the solutions being more advanced than they are, so I spend time solving them in the wrong way Razz

Anyway, I love it - the humor is top notch IMO, haven't ran into any bugs, glitches or general bad gameplay. It looks great too. Awesome atmosphere when you get "down there", for those who have reached that point in the game Smile Definitely a great sequel to a great game.

I thought it was Stephen Merchant (Oggie from an episode of The Office) not Mackenzie Crook who plays Gareth - unless they're both in it?
