My third paragraph blah blah me me me something's coming into my field of view I better write about it.

My fourth, enough about me? Hmmm not sure but here's me in the game. I've combined me with something the editor mentioned.

Fifth, how's me getting on?

Me.

Me. Them, then me.

Just me.

Out sometime next year.

A preview from PCGamer:

Quote:
But this isn’t ArmA, and it’s not trying to be. The last game in the series, Dragon Rising, struggled to find a balance between its roots as a military simulator and its desire to appeal to Call of Duty fans. Red River is still far from its heavily-scripted competition, but it has a clearer idea of its own image. “We want to steer away from the idea that it’s a simulation; we’ve banned the word in the studio".

developers only use names for publicity to get more attention . if this were called something else the media wouldn't give a fuck then codemasters would have to pay for advertising

so yeah

No its not Arma but the rest of the statement is absolute bullshit. Laughing Crudmasters needs to cease from trying to mimic Bohemia Interactive.Operation Dead Liver will be an utter fail like Operation Wagon Sinking was.

Agreed. Wink

The Executive Producer also said:

Quote:
"We’re creative, we’re making an entertainment product, and it should be fun. I don’t really get much fun out of military simulations. They’re immersive, they’re realistic, but I wouldn’t call them fun."

Sion Lenton is a fucking retard anyway.

"I think Call of Duty resonates because it's believable and relatable," Sledgehammer Games cofounder Michael Condrey says.

Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

I think the sole reason for the widespread hatred among the PC community regarding DR was the fact that they hyped the shit out of the game for months, talking about how accurately modelled everything was and how the MP was going to own, and then then three weeks before launch (or thereabouts) they said "Oh by the way, no dedicated servers, we went with peer to peer". The PC community collectively said "Fuck off". I'm aware it had several other issues, but that was the killer for my gang.

Wonder if they'll make the same mistake? Cool I got £22 trade in on the PC version at gamestation a week after release though

Yes, that was one of the reasons. Also, there's a strong community around BIS that don't like that the distributor uses the name Operation Flashpoint. For them the name belongs to the developer. Worst, codies, instead of making a real OFP sucessor , a milsim, produces that crap, Dragon Rancid. That was only the pretext they need.
Remember, ArmA players are PC hardcore gamers. The day that BIS decide to derp down the series, they will have serious problem with their community.

One thing that must be understood is the first Operation Flashpoint and the Arma series that followed was started as far back as 1996.Yes that long ago.I remember reading about the development by BIS in PC magazines that far back.Codemasters will never bring this series to that level of perfection simply because they are mainly focused on a ton of different games geared towards the basic cookie cutter gamer crowds.Games with very short life expectancies and little support.BIS focuses on software geared towards the military and those gamers that want realism and have been doing it for over 10 years.Enough said.

Not sure if it has been said, but the game will use GFWL for multiplayer:

Quote:
PC Gamer: With a game so based around Coop, are going you to be using some proprietary software like Steamworks or Games for Windows Live?

Sion Lenton: Games for Windows Live.

No idea why (Perhaps I should read the article more thoroughly for once?) but the US version is delayed for about six weeks.

Co-op trailer:

Also the Official Derpstation Magazine gave it a 8/10:

Quote:
"Unlike other shooters available Red river requires an understanding of practical military tactics to enjoy" ;"it doesn't explain them very clearly" basic strategies can be honed from "trial and bloody error".

According to the magazine, beyond the early learning curve is a "smarter, more grown-up shooter" that - once everything drops into place - is "hugely rewarding" experience that has "authenticity" to it.

Too difficult for them? It must be hard to play something different from CoD Laughing

Like with everything else recently, this has been "released" for a console. The xbox version is out a month before the official release. If it had local split-screen I'd grab it for fun but nope. I'll give it a go on the PC and see if they improved it any over Dragon Rising. Maybe it won't be quite as fucked up as DR was. Clunky damn interface...

And Portal has been out for a day or two as well on the console. Damn pirates are ruining everything Very Happy

This game will be just as bad as DR.
I hope they'll use the new engine for military training Laughing

By the looks of that COOP video, it still seems like itll be a game nobody gives a shit about. Again. Derps and 'PC elitist assholes' alike.

How much dumber could the AI get? Look how they run up to you. Oh. They're shooting you too, no matter, you're Robocop now.

Why even give them guns? Is it supposed to create the illusion that they stand a chance?

If you want the worst AI go Crysis 2. Atleast 3 times i have seen a enemy grenade himself to death by throwing it directly under his feet and just standing there.

That's just realism. Very Happy I don't know how many fucking times playing Rainbow Six games that I'd go to toss a grenade and bounce it off the top of a door frame, a counter top, my teammate's head, etc and have it land right back at my feet. And all I could do was yell "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU..." *BOOM* Very Happy
