Driver: San Francisco
Quote: |
With crime lord Charles Jericho now on the loose San Francisco faces a terrible threat. Only one man can stand against him. He has driven the streets of a hundred cities, spent his whole life putting criminals behind bars. But to take Jericho down, there can be no turning back, and he knows that this may very well be his last ride. His name is John Tanner. He is the DRIVER. Developed by Ubisoft Reflections, creators of the original title, DRIVER SAN FRANCISCO is the return of the established action driving video game series that has sold 14 million copies worldwide. Gamers play John Tanner, a hardened detective involved in a relentless manhunt throughout the City by the Bay. Thanks to a groundbreaking gameplay feature, players can now seamlessly shift between more than a hundred licensed vehicles, keeping them constantly in the heart of the action. With its timeless atmosphere, unique car handling and renewed playability, DRIVER SAN FRANCISCO offers the free-roaming, classic, cinematic car chase experience. |

You'll have longer to wait for it's release than the end of this month. Ubisoft delayed this and the new Ghost Recon until sometime this fiscal year i.e between March 31st 2011 till the same date in 2012.
Also given that absolutely no news has been heard of this title since it's delay last November, i wouldn't hold your breath!

Driver 2 was not bad, it was actually quite good.
This was the era before GTA3, and these games (Driver 1 & 2) were actually quite amazing for their time. Driver 2 had much better cities than 1, much less "boxxy" and "square-ish".
But ever since Driv"3"r 3, it has been really downhill. This of course takes the cake, with the retarded ghost-driver or whatever.

It depends on when you played it. I played it on PS1 when it was released, and it was good. Then when I found my PS1 some years later and decided to have a perspective on how games where on that system, it was quite bad.

This game is so retarded... Well, can't have the kiddies actually try to drive carefully without losing control when in chase, so they created the "driver ghost" feature where you can move from car to car. So why can't you just teleport into the bad guys' cars and kill them on the spot?
I bet Kommando will LOVE this game.

I wish they did a try successor to Driver and Driver 2. They had awesome physics for their time. Just update the physics engine and graphics and ge for a little more realism combined with mayhem. I would love that.

I tired it out. Not very impressed. The switching car mechanic is derp. But the biggest problem I find is the cars have no real weight and the handing physics are simplistic compared to Reflections games of the past. Its all feels way to arcade like. Its been awhile since I played the last driver game or stuntman, but this doesn't feel like them to me.
