Autolog works even with those mods? Cause that mod is basically like cheating (when comparing to people with the vanilla game ofc). I drive much much faster laps with this mod
No idea, I haven't even bothered installing the mod yet, but perhaps I should. I've already been setting some regional records and I've pretty much made every target time there was so far. Does it really change the game that much? Not sure if Maus0r has installed the mod either
The only race I actually had to try multiple times was the bloody time attack at Glendale West (I think?) at night. That track is so fucking hard at night
Send me an invite (Werelds) if you're playing a legit version!
Maus0r sure as hell seems to be having fun going after my records, bastard
Don't worry you're still in front for a lot of them (only by a second in some cases though!) but don't get lazy mate, I'm coming forthe rest
I absolutely love this game, and don't regret buying it for a second. The track graphics are jaw dropping; I stuck Grid on for a while yesterday and it looks like a snes game in comparison. Really getting the feel for wheel racing too, in Grid, Shift 1 and Dirt 2 I played mostly with joypad, so adjusting to a wheel has been difficult but I've raced from the start with the wheel in Shift 2 and it's frickin awesome. If you love driving games this is a must. There's already a few mods out, custom camera angles that remove look-to-apex from helmet cam and of course the handling mod. That's the one that makes the game come alive.
By the way, has anybody managed to tame the monstrous Audi R8 after works converting? I can't drive the beast in a straight line, I swear the car is trying to kill me. I've tried various setups (springs, downforce) but to no avail.
If anyone wants to add me, my Autolog is CarlosMentalia.
Maybe I'll get the full! Just waiting for my salary Game is really good and with the mod finally playable! Cars don't act like fucking boats on rubber anymore
I don't regret buying it at all. It's not a driving sim (but it gets ridiculously close on some aspects), but they get the whole racing absolutely right and that's what they were aiming for. On that aspect, it blows any of the sims I've played out of the water, the only other one that I found just as exciting was RBR (on that note: DO WANT new rally sim).
@ Maus0r: I'll revisit some of them at some point
A second is quite a lot though, and most of those times are from a single try. In most cases I can still win anywhere from 0.5 to 2 seconds because I fucked up somewhere, and I still don't know all the tracks by heart
Great fun though, now if only MP worked properly, Leo and I couldn't get a duel to start
Conditions:
Nürburgring
Nissan GT-R (R35) - not vspec!
NO upgrades!
Only tuning!
Gamemode:
Race against the time
No other cars
Day
Driving aids:
Expert settings but with->
Manual Gear
Auto or manual clutch, whatever you like bette (but with the nissan GT-R I'd say take auto, you can't clutch faster than that gearbox can!)
No racing line
Traction as you like (you'd prefer none with an analog gas pedal)
Full Damage
ABS (The nissan GT-R has it inbuilt so let's keep it that way)
Let's see what your wheel is capable of against my keyboard!
custom camera angles that remove look-to-apex from helmet cam
Why would you want to remove that? I've been waiting for that feature in a racing game for YEARS. Looking into the corners only makes it better for me.

Well personally I find it disorienting, but tbh I haven't spent a great deal of time with it. Traditionally in racing games I use bonnet view anyways.

No wheel mate, just my 360 pad and me
For the record, I drive with all assists off except ABS. ABS is probably the most common feature in cars these days, next to electric windows, so I find it nonsense to not have that as it's actually useful. Traction and stability control on the other hand annoy the crap out of me
Just did a quick lap to see what needs fixing in terms of tuning, clocked in at 7:54. Lost like 12 seconds about halfway through because I overestimated the car's braking capability (result: spinning out onto a wide area of gravel *sigh*), and I fucked up on a number of corners because I'm not used to the car at all
Other than that, third gear ratio I'll need to adjust (2 -> 3 loses most of its torque), as well as steering lock. Also gotta fiddle a bit with suspension and tyres to get rid of its oversteering.
No traction/stability control, automatic clutch but manual gear changing (clutching on a gamepad is just unnatural). Should be able to shave a good 20 seconds or so off that time above
Just so you know, the official time for the Nissan GT-R on nordschleife is 7:26 But I think they don't have a rolling start, do they? Maybe we should set up the conditions according to that
My (horrible) time was 8:46 (with keyboard), but without ABS and HUD. Also from a standstill, cause i always fuck up at a rolling start. I'll try it again with my old Logitech wheel + pedals, but i have to figure out proper settings, cause now it's incredibly twitchy.
Ummmm, i remember i saw a video earlier, where it was said that you'd have a whole clean map, with some hangars or something like that, where you could practise drifting or whatever..
..what happened to that?
That track is called Nevada, you can select it in quick race.Stupid thing is that it doesnt count drift points anywhere in the "track" but only near the ideal raceline. because it is some kind of track for races and there is some planned route. But at least there is huge space to drift but without points.

Yeah, that's the track..
..but i cannot select it in Quick Race
There is no Nevada track there. When i tune my car, there are four Nevada drift layouts there, but when i go to quick race, or even to test, there is no Nevada track
I guess it should be right after that mount whatever, and before that nordschzchshzleife
Do i need to reach a certain level or what?
edit: My bad. I guess i need to do the drift tutorial first.

Yes they do have rolling starts, pretty much the same point where the game starts
Guess I know what my target time is now! Gave it a second go before I had to go out, managed to knock it down to 7:44, and that's with me still fucking up 2 corners and holding back a bit too much. Kinda sucks not being able to adjust my gears just a tiny bit though :<
I have to say, I watched that GT-R doing 7:26 and the in-game thing is extremely close to that guy's car. His gear ratios are slightly different, but I find myself going through most of the corners in the same gear. On that note, Nordschleife also shows how shit GT5 and F3 really are. Just check out this video:
As "floaty" as Shift 2 may feel to some, those claiming GT5 or F3 are closer to the real deal are full of shit. If you compare that video to a video of a real run, Shift 2 is much closer; not only in handling, but also in presentation. Sounds better, looks better, and tracks are much, MUCH better. In F3 and especially GT5 it's completely flat with an even surface :S
Also, bravo @ GT5 for barely looking better than LFS or rFactor and sounding like 1987's TD
@ snoop: if those guys can't beat me, they're pretty bad
Most of my times have plenty of room for improvement, and Maus0r has been happily beating them!
Do want a wheel again now though, already missed it when I started playing LFS again, but I definitely want one now.
