I wonder if this game will have the same AMD bug like the first one, which took months to fix. Cool Face Laughing

@Leo: Laughing the game became playable only after the first official patch+new drivers (*facepalm*), which was a couple (or maybe three) months after the release.. At least one can hope they don't make the same mistake again Razz

Hmm, I had a 4870 back then, and didn't have any framerate problems at all. I knew it ran better on nvidia cards but it played fine and dandy from start to finish on my end. Scratch Head

The hole fiasco was terrible, both on AMD and EA sides.

well first off, I was extremely disappointed with the graphics on the interiors of the cars, the handling was complete shit, the engine sounds are rubbish, and the online connections are terrible.

Well, that pretty much sums it up quite nicely.

Just look at that ridiculous control lag. It takes 0.5 to 1 second from where he turns the wheel to where the game picks up on it and executes. And the frame rates becoming choppy all the time?

I highly doubt the sounds will be shit, first game had brilliant sound. Graphically, I doubt it'll look worse than the first one, which was pretty fine on the PC.

As for handling and controls: you need to set up your controls properly for Shift (and thus this as well), as much as you need to for LFS; I assume the above is a quote from VVV's video? Terrible driver (keeps his foot down while changing gear for starters) and he's obviously got his controls completely fucked up, the first 90 degrees of his wheel do absolutely nothing.

I don't buy that, there's a major lag going on. It was the same with Shift 1 when using the keyboard. It took 0.5-1 second from where you pressed a key to where it actually reached the game. If you look in halfway into the movie you'll see it almost looks as if he's driving on ice, it sways, since the control lag is horrible. He turns left, nothing, then it turns left at which point he corrects by turning right, nothing happens etc. etc. Looks like utter shi(f)t controls.

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

I'd show you how my Shift responds if it still worked. I've had to replace my RAM because it was BSOD'ing like crazy, also while I was in Shift and it seems to have damaged some files, can't get it to start anymore :/

Can't be bothered to reinstall right now either, with this one coming out in a couple of days. Honestly though, I get what you're saying, but for a gamepad at least, it's all down to the settings. The default controls need to be tweaked hard, that much is true. Keyboard I don't know, because I've never even tried that Razz

Try playing LFS or rFactor with a keyboard though, it'll fail miserably there as well. Just for the record, LFS also needs some serious tweaking to prevent it from being twitchy with a gamepad.

I followed a guide to "fix" the controller in Shift 1 but it didn't work. And it's not a matter of whether it's hard to drive with the keyboard, the fact is that I had a lag where the game wouldn't register key presses until 0.5 to 1 second later which obviously made the game unplayable. And that's exactly the same thing I saw in that video. And I HAVE tried LFS with a keyboard and it worked just fine after some adjusting. When I played rFactor I had a FF-wheel and pedals. No lag in either of those games though.

DPC latency? From a USB keyboard? I've had both Logitech and Microsoft. No other game have ever displayed any control lag.

There’s been a lot of discussion of the new “Elite” physics mode introduced in Shift 2. Unfortunately, I didn’t find it particularly challenging with a steering wheel. With a Logitech Driving Force GT, cars often felt “floaty”, as if it was difficult to keep the car pointed straight.
