Thats strange. You shouldn't be seeing any blur effects. I get the blur effects when I cap the fps to 62. If your game is running at around ~118fps, you should see no blur even when turning very quickly |
Gonna check my FPS, got a gtx460 and an i7 Sandybridge. Should be enough... Even on everything turned off in autoexec.cfg i get everything blurred when turning. |
I use EVGA Precision tool to keep an eye on fps

If you check my comments of DoW2, when it first came out and I played the campaign, I said that a port for 360 of the campaign should be quite easy to do with little difficulty adjustments. MK is on the consoles only, and I don't hate it.
I do hate adjusting something fur the much for the console retards. And they are the culprit here, not the actualy 360 hardware. So yes, if Epic turns DoW3 into EndWar 2, I will hate it, yes. With passion. |
And you know I agree with you, for the most part, but I also think you're overly harsh and critical just BECAUSE of platform bias. I'm not having a go at you mate, I just think the hate against Crysis 2 is unwarranted. It doesn't do anything so desperately worse than the original game .. and it improves in a number of ways.
For one, everyone can play it now. It may NOT be as jaw-droppingly delicious as the first, but it's still damned good looking - and best of all; it's playable. The maps aren't as minuscule as you think, nor does that mean the gigantomaps from the first game were actually beneficial. The first was EVERY BIT as "follow the objective marker" as the sequel, the only difference is you could spend hours wading through the jungle to get there. Was there any benefit to going off the beaten path? I sure as hell didn't see any :\
C2 has definitely been streamlined, I'm not disputing that, but it hasn't been derped or streamlined anywhere near as much as some of you are making out -- nor I don't think it's instantly the worst game in the history of ever just because it has console versions too.
.... but then, that's just me... and I enjoyed Frontlines/Homefront, which everyone and their dog seemed to despise.

@sabin
The best thing about Crysis 1 was the graphics. The second best thing, sneaking in the jungles and killing Koreans inventively. Both are now gone - the graphics are not impressive to say the least, and to remind you and consolitis, this is a 2011 game, and it looks nowhere as impressive as a 2007 game which looked nowhere was impressive as its 2006 gameplay videos. Another major difference is, despite both being linear in their campaign structure, Crysis gave you a 360 degree world around the objective to attempt, not invisible (or very high visible ) walls only giving you one route to it.
The console here is blamed for its pathetic hardware causing very strong limitations on the design. So what am I to do? Ignore the elephant in the room for silly political correctness? Yes, if this was only on PC, and this was the final version, then I'd hate it equally.

At 71 FPS its decent but still disturbing, guess ill just have to live with not maxing everything out then...

both of ya have good points.
there are visual effects at cinematic level but at same time its a console port.
I hope the DX11 patch can bring the level we saw at GDC real time tech demo for cry Eng3

Shouldn't a developer seek the balance between hardware requirements and graphical quality? Even today's normal consumer (i.e. exluding people with 300 dollar GPUs) cannot experience Crysis 1 in full glory. I still remember all the bitching and moaning about how shit the game ran when it was released. Funny that it's now used as the graphical standard, while many PCs still can't handle it. I'd rather have a game which looks slightly worse but runs much better, instead of some glorious looking game I can only play in slide-show mode.

Don't forget that a lot of those were "Next Gen Ready" demos of CryEngine 3. Most of the Crysis 1 features, from 2007, are now considered "Next Gen Ready".

If Crysis were remade with CryEngine 3, the performance would probably be quite better. There are some supposed improvements. So while performance won't still be as a UE3 game, it is nowhere as bad as you say. Perhaps the laptop "gamers" can't play Crysis today, but almost all mid range cards can play Crysis on high (which still looks more impressive than Crysis 2) and some options on higher.

I find this game actually looks very similar to the original with some tweaking of the settings with the bonus of it running better then Warhead, which was further optimized to run better then the original.
The only difference is from then and now, is that Crysis was exciting because it was some sort of proposed evolutionary step for PC graphics, whereas this game isn't such a big step. For this gen of consoles this is probably the pinnicle of eye candy before the next gen is released, but for modern PC's I feel they at already at the stage where they can offer so much more but it's just no one with deep enough pockets is willing to develop for them right now. my 2 cents

See, I'm a bit on the fence about this one.
On one hand I despise CryTek for selling out. There's no other way to describe it, they just sold out. The first fucking interaction you have with the game (unpatched) is "PRESS START TO BEGIN". Continue onto the settings, and you've got 0 flexibility for the graphics, autoaim is enabled by default (for SP, and again, had to be patched out for MP), no settings for smoothing/acceleration, and so on. Requiring a day-1 patch to hide the fact that consoles are your main target is just bad.
It's no surprise that it runs better than Crysis 1 either, since many of the bits that added a lot to C1 are gone. Gone are most of the physics, ragdolls and little things like the bushes around you being pushed away as you go through, bouncing back when you're gone. I'm convinced however that if you use these kind of maps in C1, you can make it run just as smooth; the game really does not run as bad for the way it looks as many of you make it out to be. The AI in this is also ridiculously bad, so no CPU cycles needed for that either.
On the upside of things, the suit powers do work better now, with the exception of SPEED. Sprinting should not require energy; it should be walk > run > sprint > speed, with the last one requiring energy.
The cover system is also not bad; it's not as good as in CoJ, but close, and it beats the shit out of any 3rd person piece of crap cover systems.
It's not the worst game we've seen in the past year, but it's far from the game it could be, had it been a proper PC game.
Consolitis got a config for MAXIMUM quality by any chance? I'm pretty sure Warhead will run just as fine as this does, so I'll download Warhead again to check that.

Want to know what led me and many other people to "bitching and moaning"?

Quote: | Every sane person is wondering how all this is going to run on their system. We asked Cevat Yerli, Crytek CEO, what gamers with a limited budget should buy to make sure they can play Crysis well, and his first answer was two gigs of RAM. The single gig most of us have is going to struggle with environments of this size, and with this much smashable stuff to keep track of. Next on the shopping list is, predictably, a GeForce 8800 - but the GTS model in that range is fairly affordable, and not a huge step down from the GTX. The surprising part is that Cevat says a Core 2 Duo E6600 processor is enough to run Crysis on Ultra High settings with that setup. That chip is likely to undergo another price drop before Crysis comes out, too, so donโt rush. |
Sure, it's able to RUN the game... at what, 20-25 fps @1650x1050?
That fucking piece of shit lied with all his teeth and then spent the few next months after the games release blaming piracy and not understanding why some people who bought the game were so upset.

good, the more complicated controls get the more likely people who do happen to want and expect more from their games will move to other platforms such as the PC. it's all a learning curve at the start.

Well to be honest, the way these mobile platforms are advancing, they are indeed becoming viable playforms. In a few years time, we'll have iPads and iPods as strong as 360s. But if games continue their current path, they will, for the most part, try to emulate the larger console cousins, instead of working with the mobile platform's advantages.

I have a better solution: play with m&k but keep your gamepad plugged-in (and make sure the vibration is activated). Now place the gamepad on your ballsack and play the game: maximum stimulation!

Turns out the version of Crysis2AdvancedGraphicsOptions i was using didnt really(?) turn off motion blur. Got the updated version and lowered some settings. Now its fine.
