Just to get an idea how my 9800GTX and E8400 will do | Only played until the first checkpoint so far, but since I went through a couple of areas that I remember that were a bit demanding on the beta I'd say I have a fairly accurate idea of my general performance.
Which is 35-45fps, Gamurrrrrr settings, 1440x900, FoV 65 + EdgeAA and any kind of blur turned off.
Q8300@3.33GHz, 4GBDDR2, Win7 x64. |
Thanks
I guess i should expect something in the 30-40ish with some dips in the 25 during intense scenes. I have a better video card but i play at 1680 x 1050 and i'm pretty sure that my dual vs quad is going to kill me in a game like this as i've heard that it's CPU intensive.
Anyway as long as i don't get frequent stutters i'm going to be happy

Game actually runs great on my 60" plasma, hardcore setting. 1080p looks pretty fucking good too. seems a game like this asks for a large screen

Hey guys can someone please post the commands to change the fov, bobbing and stuff. I removed the demo so the shortcut with the saved parameters got deleted with it
1 and 2 are still amazing.

No need for commands: http://www.nfohump.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1455745#1455745

Just like wrong HZ in those old CRT monitors.

So what 60" are you running it on? With these graphics you'd think it would stutter on anything larger than 40"

Why does my game look different from these shots? For example my game doesn't have the blur effect when sprinting Everything just looks clear when I sprint

What settings are you using?
If it's 1.00 then the order is Gamer - Advanced - Hardcore.
If it's 1.01 (Not cracked though.) then the order is High - Highest - Extreme.
(Low, Medium, High is more accurate, weird to name it like that.)
(Or as the game and in-game console reads it sys_spec 1, sys_spec 2 and sys_spec 3, I use sys_spec 4 myself as seen in the cfg and such I posted which would correspond to v.high/enthusiast, but it doesn't make all that much of a difference.)

The game updated itself to 1.01 and then I applied the fairlight crack. Im playing on hardcore setting. Theres no blur effects or anything. Ive watched some youtube vids and the game looks quite cinematic. The motion in my game doesn't look cinematic at all. Everything looks like a game... it looks like COD

According to Crytek, that is because the Low spec of Crysis 2 has all the eye-candy (HDR, shadows, AA, AF, motion blur, DoF, SSAO) of the High spec of Crysis 1, while the Low spec of Crysis 1 had none.
Quote: | Although it is common practice for multiplatform engines to disable certain rendering features depending on hardware strengths or weaknesses, in CryENGINE3 most rendering code is designed to be general, shared and optimal for consoles. For example, all post processes use exactly the same code path. We also scale the quality up for higher PC specs. Due to a lot of hard work and heavy optimization on GPU/CPU side since Crysis 1, every spec on PC should mostly play at 60 fps at 1080p assuming the user selects the right sys spec for his machine and has a fast enough CPU.
In Crysis 1, a relatively brute force approach was used, where all features on lowest settings would be completely turned off, including HDR rendering, shadows and all post processes. Users were also forced to use lower resolutions for improving performance, which meant a lot of our low end hardware owners would not be able to achieve a decent visual experience of our game at good frame rates. Running Crysis 1 at HD resolutions on highest end hardware in 2007 was simply not possible.
This time around, throughout the entire project, we dedicated a lot of effort to optimization. All features are present across all system specs, including HDR rendering, shadows, motion blur, SSAO, Depth of field and post MSAA. Anisotropic filtering is also used on every system spec, and users can now experience a great gaming experience at 60 fps on PC at HD resolutions, including stereo mode. It should be noted that most other games rely on having completely pre-baked lighting, no HDR rendering and dynamic shadows limited to a few items such as characters, in order to offer a 60 fps experience.
This effort made our lowest specification equal in many aspects and even superior to CryENGINE 2 High specs. The biggest differences from Crysis 1 to Crysis 2 are the vastly improved dynamic lighting and shadowing and highly improved image quality. For this reason, the lowest available spec on PC in Crysis 2 is “High Spec” and the highest spec is “Extreme”. |

AH! I think I just figured out what the problem was. I was playing the game at +100fps on a 120hz monitor. It was TOO smooth, it looked too much like an arcade game or something. I changed my monitor setting to 60hz and Im finally getting the blur effects while running and looking around

Instant buy for me. This game is epic. Better optimized too. Runs better on hardcore on my system than Crysis 1!

Installed crysis2, applied patch 1.01, copied crack from FLT folder and the game is still 1.00 (graphic options are gamer - advance - hardcore, not high-est-extreme, and console isn't activate by default)
Hope we get 1.01 crack!

I just beat it. I thought it was ok...graphics weren't as good as Crysis 1 but it ran better. I hated fighting the aliens, I don't know why every Crytek game starts out with fun human enemies and ends with shitty monsters and aliens. Also if I had a dollar for every time your character passes out I'd be rich.

I'm trying to play it through on the hardest level. It's getting frustrating getting so near yet so far to the check points. I'm sure it will only get worse as it goes along.

Well you can always test a few settings, I personally use 80.

I seem to have a strange fail when launching this game. Fullscreen launches a black screen and freezes whole PC. Only restart helps. However, -windowed mode launches the application fine, but then I can't make it fullscreen anymore.
I don't have any controllers or mics plugged into PC.
What gives?
