I think the PS2 version looks really good, and is way superior to other GTA titles in every way (which matters). I just can't get use to the restriction of movement on the older versions now.

A "whole new graphical experience"? yeah right. Laughing
http://www.gtasanandreas.net/screenshots/gallery.php?image=1350 Laughing

I bet that the graphical difference will be as big as it was in vice city and nothing more, meaning a much higher resolution but the rest is basicly the same. It would sure be cool if it actually looked ALOT better but I HIGHLY doubt that since that have not been the case with any gta pc version yet.

Probaly. Rockstars known for not adding much of anything new to their PC releases. This also means the GTA community will probably have to mod a multiplayer mode in there.

Yep. The game was fun though on the PS2. Have to admit it. I certainlly dont agree on the ratings for the graphics it got. Even though GTA is getting a little bit repetitive now, I judge San Andres as its own game. I found the gameplay and controls better than the sound and graphics. Hopefully they add new things like more radio stations in the PC version but like I said... I doubt it.

What I would really like to see is some good mini games. More playable characters I'm not worried about. Theres always skins anyway.

The draw distance is considerably higher in the PC version when compared to the PS2 version.
Real reflections on buildings can be seen in a screenshot. Real reflections will also be visible on cars and shiny floors.
The German version will be censored of blood, you also won't be able to mug people for money.
You can forget washed out textures from the PlayStation 2 version. The PC version will not be a 1:1 copy of the PS2 version, but a whole new graphical experience.
It is not yet confirmed how the 2-player mode will work on the PC.
The PC version will allow you to import your own MP3 for listening on the radio. You can even specify an MP3 folder on your hard disk, which the radio will play songs from between advertisements and DJ commentary.
As of writing the preview, the game is 90% complete and ready to be released in June (June 7 in USA and June 10 in Europe).

Like the last version... not much new in the PC version except the fact you can put in MP3s like you did with VC. Its too bad they didnt add in more stuff for the PC version. Sad

No, read it more carefully - in between advertisements and DJ Commentary. In the last PC outing (Vice City) it was merely an MP3 station which played them in succession. That quote suggests something else enitrely different.

That is if it is an accurate statement of course.

Sounds good either way. I won't be buying it, as I already bought it for the PS2, but I'll be downloading this and I'll enjoy it once more.

Great game, not as good as Vice City originally was but it will hook you eventually.

I've tried Grand Theft Auto Vice City on Ps2, PC and Xbox and i can honestly say that the XBOX version was waaaaay better graphicly than the Ps2 version and PC. All the cars have great lighting effects and they look so much different and real compared to the Ps2 and PC version.
Wonder what they will do with San Andreas...

I think what you are trying to say is that your PC isn't even up to XBOX specs - time to upgrade I'd have thought. There is no way an XBOX is graphically better than a PC with a decent graphics card.

The XBOX version included graphical updates that the PC version didn't have. (higher poly chrome wheels, better reflections) However, by modding the PC version you could achieve the same if not better effects. But straight out of the box the XBOX version was graphically superior.

Yes, I read it. Its still no different than Vice City. All their doing is putting it in between advertisements. An actual difference would be if they offered exlusive things just for the PC version Ei: more missions, more playable characters, etc. I wouldnt really call putting mp3s inbetween radio DJs and advertisements anything special. Rolling Eyes

Thats cool. The first thing I look after a GTA game is released is if theres any car mods, or extra added building mods. I hope they make a nice modded collection of dirt bikes in this game. Highly detailed. Those would be cool.

Also, anyone remember the skateboard mods for Vice City? Laughing

Umm, yes, it's completely different. Instead of just a channel that plays MP3s in succession it will have a new DJ recording which will play inbetween the tracks, and possibly I would imagine new advertisements to go with it.

No, it's not a huge new feature, but I wasn't debating that - and I wouldn't expect anything more added to the game. They are already re-doing the textures, models and graphics.

What more do you want? A straight port would have been understandble as PC games are much more heavily pirated, and they don't have to add anything - the PS2 base is good enough. Costs money to spend more time on the development of the game.

Looks like I was very right when I said that there wont be a huge difference compared to the ps2 version, except for the higher resolutions Wink
But the higher resolution do make the image more crisp, obviously, and that's always something. Smile

On IGN you can read a GTA-SA 'hands-on' (http://pc.ign.com/articles/605/605982p1.html)
Some quotes:

"but the combination of nice textures, improved view distance, and better character models makes it above-par for the PC"

"Unlike the PC version of Vice City, textures load a lot faster. You may recall building facades and pedestrians not appearing very fast when you were moving through the city at high speed, and there still is some of that going on here, but you have to look for it now. And with the much farther view distance, you can see buildings from miles off and drive right over to them. The sky also has a lot more color to it throughout the day/night cycle."

"Another nice feature that you won't see much of in the PS2 version is being able to control a vehicle and camera independently"

"The PC ports have always had sections that didn't work very well with its control scheme, and San Andreas looks like it's going to continue that trend, so I would recommend having a gamepad on hand."

"there won't be any new content--no new vehicles, weapons, missions, et cetera. Nor will Rockstar add any multiplayer, but I think it's safe to expect another Multi-Theft Auto from the MTA Team not too long after release".

This preview comes along with the same screenshots as posted in the thread above. You can't really judge the draw distance on these screenshots so lets hold on for some trailers, anyways; it's better than PS2 Wink

Gamespot also has an hands-on
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/gta4/preview_6122561.html

this is nice
Quote:
the PC version of San Andreas will be better optimized than previous PC ports, and it will feature only a fraction of the loading times from the previous games. You'll only hit a load screen when entering buildings, like the local fast-food chain, Cluckin' Bell (complete with humiliating costumes for employees), anyway. If you want, you can simply drive across the entire length of the state of San Andreas, which is roughly five times the size of Vice City, without hitting a single loading screen.

The best part about the pc version is the much better viewdistance.
I hope some cheats come out fast for the pc version so i can roam around with the jet pack.

By the way, driving from one side to the other takes around 30mins (if I remember it right) in real time, that's how fricking big it is.
