This included the tech support area were the gave me the current specs of their computers (i7, 6GB DDR3 Ram, 128GB SSD, Nvidia 580) but they still test on lower end comps so don't let that worry you.
(Note: 2 years ago they were transitioning from Core 2 Quad, 4GB DDR, GTX280/4870 to i7 Quad, 12GB DDR3, GTX285/4870 while keeping their hard drives, 500GB + 250GB SATA, the same.)

After waiting in the lobby for a few minutes it turned out Gabe was in the office and wanted to say hi. To my great delight he was playing DOTA 2 when we walked in and from what I can see the game already looks very promising.

also he said they were looking into the iOS/Android platform for possible expansions with Steam.

Console Orange Box Updates: "I don't even know how we'd pull that off." Optimising 3+ years of updates that didn't consider, say, strict memory budgets or controller support for the new menus is a huge amount of work that nobody wants to do. It's not IMPOSSIBLE, but there's just been more important things to do. Like the PC updates. PS3 Steamworks helps, but doesn't solve the aformentioned problems.

Then I got one of the biggest surprises of my life, Tim Schafer had just walked into the lobby. Now he looked really busy so I didn't bug him for an autograph or something but it was still badass seeing Gabe Newell, Robin Walker, and Tim Schafer all in one day.

Now I have a few things to say about Portal 2. One is that you need to buy this game. Portal 2 is just mind-blowing, the story, the puzzles, everything is the best that Valve has ever made. Valve could sell this game at $100 a pop and I would still buy it, thats how good it is. And as for a demo, this game does not need one. Take it from me, Portal 2 GOTY 2011 no contest.
So that's it. Video capturing capabilities, Meet the Medic and Source Filmaker are to be released soon.

"Like Nothing On Earth"
Yes, but for free and I suppose with built in functionality to upload the video straight to the Steam Community (or youtube too? I hope so).

These are the "Meet the" videos they have been released so far. Watch them, most of them are hilarious and they're pretty short.
Now these are being made with a tool called "Source Filmaker" which is running in the regular Source we all know and love(?) but each frame takes several minutes to be rendered therefore it's how Source would look if we had supercomputers.
Valve using Source Filmaker can film and edit whatever they want and make videos that look almost as impressive as Pixar's. The tool will be released to the community so we're going to see many incredible looking and edited machinimas.

Shit..... I did NOT know that they were created wholly within Source. Man, Source looks like it's going to be around for a very, very long time yet.
Oh yes, every single video of them is running on Source with the same assets they ship with their games. The TF2 videos, the L4D1/2 videos, the Portal 2 videos.. The hardware will hopefully one day can run this in real time:
edit replaced video with the one I intended

Facts & figures on obesity: Obesity is one the major health challenges worldwide and has become an epidemic over the last decades. Europe has the highest number of overweight and obese people in the world. The number of obese people has in fact tripled over the last 20 years in the Europe, according to the WHO. Today, over 130 million people are obese in Europe; approximately 10%-20% of men and 15%-25% of women. In addition, 400 million people are overweight in Europe.
"Robin told me it took them like 4 years to get a hold of Church, as for his project Robin would/could not say.
Oh and as far as I know those pictures are just some art done by people at Valve."
Now some of it might be Portal 2 art.. but there are many designs that don't fit with the IPs we already know..
Also notice the "Jay Pinkerton" written above some of the art, which was apparently an editor from cracked.com now writing for Portal 2: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jay_Pinkerton

So when are you slitting your wrists then atrox? Because apparently everything in your life SUCKS. Remember, it's down, not across
You're pretty mistaken if you think there's noone playing them. And the most successful online games are all mods: on Valve's end that is CS and DoD, for id it was CPMA and OSP that rocketed Q3 to its awesome heights, Epic had ChaosUT and Tactical Ops amongst others. In each of these cases the moddability is what caused the games to be so popular and in the case of UT/Q3 also why their engines were so popular. CS is still close to being the most played MP mod/game *12* years after its first beta release. Not even QW has held out that long :E
CS isn't a mod, it was a mod years and years ago, DoD sucked and no one plays it now and people barely played it back when it was popular, these other grand mods you speak of I never even heard of.
That is like saying BF2 is a mod since it was inspired by Desert Combat.

That says more about you than it does about the mods, now go back to the console section.
Oh, and CS still is a mod: last I checked it's still free as long as you have a copy of HL. The fact that you can buy CS separately means jackshit, because it's just HL with the mod preinstalled.

Very well said, buying CS you pay money to Valve for the HL engine. If you have already bought HL, you can download CS for free.
