Question. I Ordered a game from Play.com but I want to cancel my purchase.

Well, it seems that I was to late, because they just informed me that they have just shipped my package, so I'm wondering if the package will be returned to Play.com if I don't pick up the package from my local Post Office, and if Play.com will refund my money when it's returned to them.

I have never dealt with Play.com before, so I'm unsure of how they handle a situation like this.

you have 7 days to inform them that you dont want it, as long as the game is unsealed from the sounds of things. i suspect if you follow through with your plan, you wont be able to back out of it. read the terms and conditions section, under the 'right to cancel' section.

I looked at "right to cancel section" but that only seems to cover a situation where I have the package in my hands and want to return it.

Do I really have to take possession of the package? It just seems easier to just let it return to sender, and then Play.Com can refund me, and of course deduct X amount of dough to cover the cost of returning the package by mail.

well i dont see anything there about missed deliveries.

only suggested the 7-days thing because its a lot less messy.

the delivery company may just keep the package at the local depot until you claim it, i dont know if, or after how long, theyll send it back to the distributor.

plus, i know they have stuff in their terms about false details n shit, and they MIGHT see what you're doing as messing them around and giving them false information (sending a package to a location that 'no one lives at'), so its POSSIBLE that simply refusing the package when theres nothing wrong with it AND they have systems in place to ALLOW you to return the package if you didnt want it, might in fact result in breaking the terms of the contract and you lose the lot.

i dont know, of course... up to you if you want to take a gamble.

i 'spose you COULD try and ignore the package, then IF it comes back, go with the cancellation process...

Hmm, I think I will wait and see what happens, but I must say that of course both store and customer will have to abide by certain...Restrictions... Wink But I wouldn't be in this situation if Play.com had been more informative...

Until yesterday, I had no way of telling if my order was about to be shipped or not, all I had was a mail that confirmed that the Order had been placed by me, so I'm a bit miffed about the way Play.com handles Communication.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood - Limited Codex Edition for PC.

I'm also considering just reselling the game for a profit, since that edition for PC is very limited.

Not related to play.com . Still, I order quite a lot of things from abroad and had a few cases of missing at transit. If it's the same as with missing packages shipped to Russia, then it would be in your interest to avoid it. Most of the time, it takes 3 months before shipper would initiate an investigation and another 3 months to complete it and to get a refund.

So I have to pick up the package and resend it with that Ref code? It's not possible to let the package return by refusing to take possession?

Well I've never tried that before, but as I said they give you a Ref code to send the package back so they know it was your package. I mean the Post Office keep the package for a week or 2? before sending it back to the original sender? Your be waiting a long time for a refund.

The problem for me about picking up my package, is that because of my Country's harsh Custom and Taxation laws, I will have to pay Tax and custom fees just to pick up the package.
This is why I want to return the product without receiving the package. Only two days ago I found out that this product will cost me twice as much as advertised because of Insane Custom and tax fees in my Country Sad

I know, this is my problem, I should have checked up on this, but I thought that Play.com was based in the EU just like me, so I didn't expect any issues.

One thing is certain, I'm NOT gonna pay nearly as much as the game is worth to tax/custom just to be able to return the product.

I hate my country and all this EU VS the world BULLSHIT! Mad

They will deliver your package through the letter box - you wont be able to "refuse" it. They wont be signed for.

You then, under distance selling regs have 30 odd days to return it for a full refund. If you contact Play they HAVE to pay for the return postage too (its law), so they'll probably have a freepost address for you to return it to.

I see. Well the package is too big to fit in my letter box Very Happy Even if it did fit, I think I would have to collect it at the Post Office, since I would have to pay nearly 54€ in Tax and Customs fee (No joke), and THAT I want to avoid since the game "only" cost 74€.
