|
 |
So i tried find thread for this, but didnt find from the shit search fuction.
Anyway i recently got LG W2363D-PF 120hz monitor (Had BenQ XL2410T first but it was utter shit from image quality department, lots of backlight bleeding, and colors werent satisfying for my eyes after "calibration", dont buy this shit get LG instead). Also bought Nvidia 3D vision kit
So far games i have been playing at stereoscopic 3D are:
Batman AA - Pretty much flawless 3D experience, pop up shines at the cutscenes mostly.
Bulletstorm - This game is meant to be played in 3D, when you use leash to pull dudes, feels like they come through the fucking monitor
Dragon Age II - Pretty nice on 3D aswell, nice pop ups when you go past NPC´s and shit. Some errors can be seen, but its pretty new game.
Also for ppl who are interested whats the performance on overclocked single GTX 480 (highest settings 1080p), its fine. Bulletstorm runs on highest settings 40fps+, Batman runs 60 fps+ at all times, Dragon Age II is also 60fps on DX9 settings.
Overall im very "impressed" by 3D gaming and its performance even on single card.
Any other users with Nvidia 3D kit? Would like to have some recommendations what are nice games (console ports ) with 3D.

nvidia rates how well the 3D effect works with their GPUs: http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision-3d-games.html
You should check out other games that have been rated "Ready" or "Excellent"
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"

you should try witcher.
i used nvidias... uh.. i forget what they call it, but basically it lets you play games but using those shitty red/blue glasses.
anyway tried it with witcher, and the effect was really really excellent... visually the effect was stunning, and the 3d 'worked'... as in it was quite playable in 3d unlike some games, can only imagine how good it would look on a proper 3d setup.

But overuse of 3D vision gives you (if not you then atleast me and several of my friends) a headache. I didn't buy it exactly because of that reason. It strains the eyes a lot.
1 and 2 are still amazing.

i never tried shutter glasses, and yeah.. headaches are my concern. i know it effects some people and not others, and to varying degrees, but i dunno.. always felt kinda iffy about shutter glasses.
the polarized ones though i have no problem with. i know its completely different, but its the same thing where some people just cant use them and some people (like me) have no problem with them
so yeah, maybe ill be fine with shutters ones. i dunno.. really need to try some out...

I was talking about the 3D vision shutter glasses. The blue and red I have no problems with but then the 3D effect is on two totally different levels.
1 and 2 are still amazing.

When you enter to the 3D stereoscopic setup, you can choose there anaglyph 3D glasses (Red/Cyan costs like 5 euros Paper / Plastic glasses). Anaglyph 3D glasses alters picture colors too much, but effect is still nice. Ebay should be full of anaglyph glasses.
If you want try out em, get red/cyan since nvidia only uses them by default, you can hack registry to get it working with green/magenta glasses which usually comes with older bluray 3d movies.

349€ for the LG display + 149,90€ for Nvidia 3D kit. US price for glasses has been lowered by 50 dollars. In finland, you need to pay shitloads of more for everything -.- So i guess about 500 dollars for whole set.

While i don't have the Nvidia 3d kit, i did buy this tv:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-UN46C7000-46-Inch-1080p-Black/dp/B0036WT4EC
which came with 2 pairs of shutter glasses. Had some trouble with my ATI 5970, got pissed at it, and bought a Nvidia 580 GTX card. Another GTX will be in the machine soon.
But anyway, it works out better since I'm using the TV as my monitor now because the 580 does support 3d better.
Call Of Duty Black Ops looks pretty good in 3d.
Also took a look at WOW which is kinda neat.
But for some reason, i can watch movies no problem but i can't play the games very long in 3d before it gives me eye strain.
Its really cool for movies though. But the games just aren't "fun" to me in 3d.

@Breezer_
Does using 3D put much of a strain on your card, what kind of frame rates do you get?

I suppose playing bulletstorm in anaglyph 3d at the moment might make up for the shitty graphics issues im getting in the higher settings :0

Your frame rate will generally drop approx 50%. The card is pumping out a stereo image - i.e. two different ones at the same time, so your fps is halved. The glasses don't add any juice to the process. They just filter the two images for your eyes.

Yeah i've had the nvidia 3d kit from day one. I've played plenty of games with it. Bad Company 2 was pretty freaking epic. I agree Batman was probably one of the most flawless 3d experiences. Also Just Cause 2 is beautiful in 3d I've even done Civilization/LF4D2(awesome)/Dead Space (needs tweaking but scares the shit out of me more)/Mirror's Edge...etc I bought a second pair to watch movies as well but I really want to get the 3d projector and then try all those games again lol. Soon come this holiday I think.
Forgot to mention i'm using 2 x 480's

suprman wrote: | Probably just nore bullshit to help them sell monitors and TV's | With current Panasonic Plasma TVs you can choose between 120Hz and 96Hz for 24p 3D Blurays. That means a refreshrate of 60Hz or 48Hz per eye. And the 48Hz can be a burden due to flickering. 30Hz should be significantly worse.

he's confusing frequency response of monitors with frames per second of video.

Yeah i figured a game that normally runs over 60 fps that was locked at 60 hz vsync just keeps your frames per second in check with the monitors refresh rate e.g 1 frame of game per refresh, is this not correct?

can only do it in vista/win 7, so if youre on xp you can stop reading now.
nvidia control panel
stereoscopic settings
display type: 3d vision discover
set-up your keyboard shortcuts to active the 3d-mode in game... t
games have to be played in fullscreen (i think in latest drivers SOME can be played windowed though)
when you're in game, press the button you set to initiate 3d, and away you go.
