Bf2 only had 2 jets or 3 max per side, also this is from SP not MP in SP there will probably be few missions where you can fly jets it will be mostly a MP thing since PC's suck at flying it would be pretty boring.
Also you shouldn't be worried from what I have seen of the games online mode there doing things right, they are not putting as much effort into single player as they are multiplayer because they understand that people play sp once and multiplayer forever. There is also going to be different game modes in MP so there will be smaller infantry only levels and there will still be big levels with jets tanks choppers etc so don't get all derpy just yet.
Also they are focusing on more realism this time around which is why the medic isn't carrying a freakin machine gun and a Assault class would have no purpose besides to just be the guy who kills people and doesn't help his team.
and additionally anything you have seen so far from gameplay, to screen shots is all pre alpha.

Medic = Assault
same as in bf2
Support = Heavy
sme as in BF2
Recon = Sniper
same as in BF2
Engineer = Anti Vehicule
same as in BF2

Saw an SP live demo this weekend, which basically was a DICE rep playing through the video that everyone has seen, but he was controlling it.
Not sure what specs were on the PC he was using (probably insane), but the game ran smooth as fuck, not a single hiccup.
There was some cheesy looking destruction in a few parts, but what you saw in the demo video was what you get, looked insanely good in person.

In that case, you're most likely thinking of Bad COMPANY 2, not BattleFIELD 2. BC2 had similar classes to BF3; Assault, Medic, Engineer, Recon.

I recently bought BC2 and in order to make anti aliasing work I have to force DX9 mode and use Nvidia Inspector. I hope the new version of the engine for Battlefield 3 will have working AA in DX11...

I just hope they don't have the same fucked up hit registration and weapon balance as in BC2. Sniping with shotguns and using SMG's as Assault rifles is just wrong

I have yet to see any of the "grandure" they promised. Wheres my fucking jetfighter, my fucking blackhawk or my goddamn tank batallion. Better show them soon or Ill stick to ARMA 2.

AA works fine here in DX11 in BC2. ATI card though.. One of the main sells for DX11 is it's improved support for AA.
