Good job. DA2 was made more "welcoming" because Bioware saw people quit DA1 after one hour. Can't wait to see how DA3 turns out with people quitting DA2 in minutes.

I have played DA1 until I met the first dragon and was kicked in ass in 5 seconds in NORMAL difficulty. Just uninstalled DA1 at once. Good game for hardcore strategist gamers willing to spend many hours of gameplay a day in front of their comp. Not for me. But this one seems much easier than the first, nice try, Bioware, I like you !!!! Very Happy

nice graphics, good gameplay and nice story, DA2 is not disappointing at all. After the impressive cinematic Bulletstorm, this one is very fun too. Hope next Assassin's Creed and Crysis 2 will be good too.
...by the way, I am a casual gamer (only 1-2 hours a day)

better than the first for sure.
the story and the way is narrated is more interesting. the combat is better and faster.. that horrible artsy overcrowded UI has gone, the hero has a voice. and after 2 hours I'm actually interested in whats gonna happen next.

I don't think Sabin cracked any of the dlc. We need whoever made the decryption tool for the last Dragon Age.

So I decided to try the game for shits and grins. I was surprised that on my old shitty computer it runs damn smooth on high, 2xaa, at a measly 1360x768. It doesn't look great but doesn't look terrible. (dx9 of course, 9800gtx+ so no dx11 for me. Smile )

Um, just fyi, all DX10 vid cards run DX11. They just don't offer the exclusive DX11 features. You may be running in DX11 and not knowing it. DX11 does offer performance benefits also which might also be why it performs well for you.

You may have DirectX v11 installed but you will not be able to run DX11 games/programs the *require* those features. Things like 3dmark won't even run since the card doesn't support the dx11 features. Yeah, DA2 will run and it'll let you select DX11 but notice that in the config tool it says "if available." On a non dx11 card it just reverts to dx9. For me it looks identical and runs identical whether I've got dx9 or dx11 selected.

Umm... wow, thanks for the vote of confidence - but I can't crack Last time, with the DAO/ME2 DLC, all I did was help suss out the url and filenames so we could download them from BioWare. It was the work of other people who made the decryption app that got them to work =)

I've got most of my characters skill trees locked, saying the skills in question will only unlock at level 99. I'm thinking I might have run afoul of some copy protection.

I started out with the theta clonedvd release but I tried installing the reloaded release and using the same save and the skills are still locked.

There's like 2 dozen criminally "exclusive" DLC content /items being held hostage from the complete game.

We must have them... Whirling cane

My observations so far: They've upped the complexity of the encryption key. Looks like the DLC erf files are again encrypted with Blowfish, but plugging a hash from an encrypted erf's header into my rainbow table cracker gave no results. Seems either the passkey is no longer 8 characters numeric, or they've salted, or both. Not sure what to do now, looks like I need a bigger rainbow table.

Nope, it reverts to DX10 or DX10.1. That why you can select high settings with DX11 renderer, but not if you use DX9 renderer.

I heard the only way to respecialize your character like Bioware advertized is... only achievable by buying an item at the black emporium.

Ugh, I chose some spells I'd really like to change.

Yes, the encryption keys for DLC are now in the form of "XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX". Where X is 0-9,A-F.

Is that true? If so, how would that be formatted for a Blowfish encryption, with or without the dashes, and alpha caps only or mixed case?

This is before they get turned into the internal keys used to initialize blowfish.
