Godfucking nightmare lieutenant rogues backstabbing my mage and killing him outright.
Far from Origins walk in the park nightmare, but some fights are ridiculous. Fights at nights there's like eight mobs, then eight more pop-up, surviving each encounter is quite the strain.

graphics are very nice in fact, be sure of that. |
Nice? I just tried it and it looks like shit. It has "console" written all over it. Even the videos look terrible...
And I play @ very high + 16xaf all maxed...

You play the game untill Varric starts telling the "real" story, not the legend.

It shits all over the consoles versions. Those look muddier, more jaggied, worse textures and only 30 fps max to boot.

i recommend using modified CUDA or developer driver ( whatever they call them )
works great for me in any game (gtx260) - currently using 263.06 version
I sure hope someone makes a camera mod soon to get that far zoom out like in origins
2 JB , where is the ini located anyway ?

So to get a displaced floor we need dx11 graphic cards now?? To me this just looks like regular bump mapping, which graphic cards could already do 10 years ago.

The thing is, bump-mapping is just a texture - this kind of "displacement" is actually tangible. Tessellation actually increases the polygon count, rather than giving the illusion of depth via a variety of textures and texture usage. It's the difference between illusion and reality, basically.

The only time I've played a game with tessellation was in SoC:Pripyat and while it does increase polygon count, it had a very unpleasant side-effect that the surface of objects (rocks, etc..) would shift as I strafed. It looked very distracting and felt even more like illusion than bump-mapped surfaces. Hopefully DA2 isn't like that.

That sounds like parallax occlusion mapping, and not displacement mapping. It's a common issue with that effect.

Is the HR textures pack usefull with a HD4850? Is it normal I can select DX11 and very high with this card? I thought that was not possible.

You can "select" anything in the Config launcher, but it won't stick when you go into the main game. Without a DX11 class card, you won't be able to select V.High in-game - but you can use High, as long as you select the DX11 Renderer in-game.

It's a DX10 card, which supports most of the new features (but not all, like tesselation) afaik.

Yes you can use the high resolution texture pack (HRTP) if you have 1GB or more video memory. But apparently, according to Bioware, a DX11 card will give much more visual improvement from the HRTP than a DX10 card. Nevertheless, you'll get some visual improvement. Try it out for yourself and compare screenshots. The HRTP is a free download.
Edit: some ATI 4850's only have 512MB of vRAM so use GPU-Z to verify your vRAM amount.

Well i played now.I kinda like the new fighting system and like someone mentioned before i play with 8800GT 512 mb with high textures enabled , graphics on high 2xAA on 1680x1050 and it runs smooth. And graphics not so bad.
What i mean is you dont need 1GB video memory to play with High Textures Pack.

Can't the ini file that contains those options be switched to read-only, thus stopping the game to change the options? Just a thought as I'm not the most experienced gamer when it comes to stuff like this. I'm extracting the game now. Is it worth to download the "HR Textures Pack" if I have an overclocked 8600 GT (1024 MB)? I mean, is the difference that big? And if it's worth it, how do I install it over this release? I remeber that JB said something about an unpacker or something like that.

yeah works fine here too . maybe Dx11 will struggle with the high Res pack cuz of the other effects that require as said 1 gig of vid ram so DX10 ten can use them smoothly without the other stuff

Still have sound delay issues in the cutscenes. Voices are accurate yet most of the other sounds (Swords, fire and whatever) are delayed. Thought they said they had fixed it in the full version.
Anyone got a work around?

MY EYES!!!!!! I'm not sure now if I still want to try the game. The art style is way more horrible than it was in the first game which was still horrible. I mean, look at that sword...

I get a strong FFXII vibe with the graphics.
