That's because you aren't seeing most high res textures.

Of course, however it was said that even for high you need 1 gb vram, ergo my statement.

@Vagrant
I expect it to be less playable at higher resolutions, with stutters and all that.

good graphics here. DirectX11 on Medium Settings with AAx2 and AFx16, Geforce 450. Very fluid and runs without stuttering (1440x900).
Pretty game, good job.

there is definitely big diffrences between dx9 and above especially at the lights and effects
i played the demo both on dx9 and dx11, and on dx11 all the magic spells/lights/ terrain effects look way more awesome;
you have to try it, u cant see the huge diffrences over some pics

Runs like shit (like below 30 fps) on my gtx 570 if I use DX11 Very High with all the extra options turned on. Disabling those and going down to High gives better performance (70 outside the city and over 100 inside the city). I tried the beta drivers released March 1st and it didn't make a difference.

Nightmare is nigh impossible, some fights you just can't win without losing all your team. Healing spells and poultices cooldowns that are way too long, defense bonuses that are way too short.
small spoilers early game:
The first boss in Kirkwall when you work for the Red something, he and his allies just wreck Carver and Aveline, then I'm all alone. Everyfucking attack in Nightmare staggers you or knock you out. One fucking rogue cheesed my Mage by chain knockdowning him into a corner.
QA much Bioware ? |
Make sure all agro is on Aveline, and she never has her back towards the adds (she prolly doesnt have the Awereness ttalent yets). CC the boss as he hits for a fuckton, and kill off the lowerhealth adds first.
Positioning is very important as the adds will agro the person theat are nearest which screws you over, so make sure to drag the whole pack back a bit so the adds will have to walk through Aveline, at which point she can agro easier.
Make sure not to AOE but do singletarget dps at this point as Aveline doesnt do enough AOE agro yet (adjust AI tactics if you have to).
Can also drag them all towards the central square and let the guardsmen help out, the oficer seems to ahve some agro-aura that draws them like flies.

REally enjoying it , 1600x1200 dx11 every max and turned on apart from no AA. Getting 30-60fps never below 30 and it looks great. c2duo @ 3ghz and 570gtx

Same here which is quite weird... Same gpu (570), also i7 870@3.8ghz and drivers ver.: 267.24. DX11, very high settings and fps drops to 20-30. When I disable dx11, fps increase to ~120. Crysis 2 MP Demo (hardcore settings) runs ~65fps in 1680*1050, Unigine Bench 2.1 (dx11, tess normal, afx16) gives me 59 result

Hmmm oddly the game hangs randomly when I enter new areas.... very weird.
1 and 2 are still amazing.

Hm, I take it Nightmare difficulty is same as Mass Effect 2? More HP and armor for enemies?

Obviously. After all, the only setting that motivate me to play ME2 was the Nightmare difficulty. Playing ME2 on normal was like a walk in the park.So for DA to have a bit of challenge, Nightmare it's the way to play it.

After almost 4h I really enjoy the game, not bad as many of you say or just hanging around a derp emoticon. The whole game is centered on your family/char not the whole races like in DAO maybe that's some of you think the game is dumb. But it's really fun after a while, and Kirkwall is really big (kinda reminds me of AoC lol).
So yea it's a enjoyable game after all, thinking to download the HD Textures after all, maybe then would be a reason to enable SLI, I'd say the game runs very smooth on my GF9800GTX+ DX11/High 4x AA 16x AF 40FPS+ all time.
So...

heres a description for Exiled Prince DLC
Sworn to the priesthood as a boy, the noble archer Sebastian Vael is thrust back into the viper's nest of princely politics when his family is brutally murdered, leaving him as the sole surviving heir. Choose to either avenge Sebastian's murdered family and reclaim his title or direct his holy vengeance on your enemies in Kirkwall.
Features:
* Play through all new missions as you avenge Sebastian's murdered family
* Add Sebastian Vael into your party, a deadly archer, and direct his righteous wrath on your enemies
* Get all new items for use in your rise to power
so is this basically a party member with a quest added into the game but they are charging for them now?

Not sure what game you all are playing, but I'm getting my ass handed to me on Hard as a Rogue. There doesn't seem to be a group heal spell (single target heal has a VERY slow refresh, as does taunt), and the biggest problem being that the enemies spawn in waves - you can never tell when to let loose or hold back because you don't know if 15 more are going to magically spawn when you take down the last one
Either I've specced very wrong, or Hard is fairly fucking Hard. Never had an issue on DA: O.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.
