WOW I thought I was the only person who liked that show. It was really good. Smile

That would be too awesome to be true, the world would explode. I'm skeptical.

Come on... am I the only person around here that think Blade Runner is overrated as hell? Why dig up this old junk? The book was also beyond boring.

They should leave the dead with the dead.

To be honest, I am very disappointed with R. Scott lately. He takes no risks anymore.

Gawd... nothing is safe from the scourge of 2000's remakes anymore? We remake a remake to rekindle modern remake-ation and.. PROFIT! Sad

Actually, this one isn't a remake. That is, apparently, a stipulation in the contract when Alcon Entertainment acquired the rights to make films in the Blade Runner universe. They can make sequels or prequels, but they cannot REmake the original film.

I that stipulation.

Correct. But I believe the above's only applicable if Ridley Scott isn't involved in the making of a film in the BR's universe. If he takes on the direction of one, then he can make remake it if he wants. But I highly and entirely doubt he'll ever do such a thing if he agrees on taking participation in that future project. Smile That'd be simply stupid. Very Happy

Scott has lost his magic touch, this is true, but I trust him more than any other director to be honest. I still think that rivisiting the BR universe is a terrible idea, but the good news is that we won't see any farcical remake, which is something Laughing Smile

Huh. There's not enough info for me to even form an opinion about this.
Instead I'm just gonna go rewatch Blade Runner followed by A Scanner Darkly. (which is, without a doubt, a pretty weird and fucked up movie).

they should just make independent stories that takes place in the same universe
i could live with that
not dealing with replicants or tyrell directly, not sequel, prequel, whatshitever
just stuff that happens there around the same time with no overlapping characters or anything of the sort
ok, gaff perhaps, sure
he was a mysterious figure who could easily become a common thread through all subsequent films

or then a completely detached story taking place decades prior, about the replicant rebellion

They should do a reboot, different plot and characters but keep the hands down awesome setting. I don't need to see Mr. Ford, although much respect, be in any more movies. He's already going to be the old Han Solo in Star Wars and that's something I feel I didn't need to see.

At least he couldn't go left or right in that scene Very Happy

They should just do a reboot, and make it closer to the book.
I would love to see the chapter in the police station in a movie.
(everyone in the station are replicants, just acting like cops but hiding from blade runners. So when Deckard gets there, he gets so confused he starts thinking he's the replicant. The feeling of paranoia is so brilliantly written, and so typical Philip K. Dick. As a reader, you KNOW he's not a replicant, but he even gets you confused for a second. Brilliant stuff)
