ok so first: my understanding.
i want to use ffdshow to apply brightness/contrast settings universally to all video, and to do this (to ensure ffdshow always loads no matter what the video) i can set the RAW VIDEO format to 'all supported'.
and so far so good, ffdshow always loads regardless of the movie type or what codecs it uses to play, and applies the picture quality settings as i intend.
NOW
heres the problem. SOMETIMES doing this will cause certain video files to crash... usually its just minor shit - NO movies i have crash with this setting, just the occasional small random video file, but the first real problem I had.. indeed its the only reason ive started really caring... was the 1080p tangled release from chd, which wont work when i have this option enabled.
so. question is: why would this be happening? why would setting ffdshow to all supported cause one movie to fail, when all other 1080s i have work just fine?

ok interesting.. ive found out that its the picture properties setting... or atleast something IN it, thats causing the glitch.
those years i spent at detective school are finally paying off...

ok its the luminance settings. why this is happening i do not know, but i can change any picture properties setting, but as soon as i touch the luminance sliders, it'll crash 
was the movie badly encoded? ANY other movie file i try has no problems...
