Not really.

This is from when AC2 and other games (can't remember which exactly were released in that time period) was released:

Their PC sales were pretty good.

You can't interpret the data that easily. For example if in Q1 2009 they released 5 PC games and in Q1 2010 only 2, then well of course in 2010 their overall PC sales were lower.

I don't think it'll be coming out tomorrow (the crack that is). Official date is at the end of the week. Plus, I think it's tied to Steam -> release date checks are imminent. Sad

It's not tied to Steam. Also, the release date is March 17th in Europe and 22 in US I think. At least Steam says so. Can't wait, already got it on Steam. Very Happy

If it works as expected then why wait any longer than needed then, try Steam://install/48190 (From http://store.steampowered.com/agecheck/app/48190/ ) first to see if the direct method works.

If that doesn't work switch Steam's view to the new one that's showing details and other overview info in a list, select AC2 and see if you can grab the CD-key from the menu that appears, then use this release and activate and play directly. Smile
(Barring any release day checks or other stuff, I've no idea what Ubisoft is using other than their own, now somewhat toned down, protection.)

I don't think Ubisoft has that stuff for their own protection method (Which I assume is used still.) but I can't say for sure, edited my own post to reflect this info somewhat better.
(30% done with downloading the image and then we'll see what's on it and how it's used.)

I don't think the install things works, at least it doesn't for me. I have it preordered on Steam, but I can't preload using this method it seems. Also, can't get the CD-Key either.

Unfortunate then, keys used to be sent out rather early but it seems it's a bit more restricted now, I guess it'll be available on the 17th just before the release time in that case.
(Unless it's released earlier in a specific area, if so it'll be available then, Asia for example would mean afternoon the 16th roughly.)

Actually, the number for Brotherhood is

steam://install/48199

This actually launches the Steam installer window, but it still doesn't download it I think.

That's the placeholder data for all titles (09, 49 or 99 being very frequently used for it.) not yet released as far as I'm aware.

It downloads nothing but adds a entry in the Programs feature as if it was installed, unsure why this is done but at release it's changed back to the proper value and the AppID will connect and begin working or how it's done.

EDIT: Steam://validate/48190 should work to confirm this but it won't install or reveal anything, creating a desktop shortcut and viewing the properties of it should also function and would likely show Steam://run/48190 in the target field. Smile

EDIT: Placeholder and then compared to the real AppId

(Also remembered to usie the link merge program a very helpful forum user provided to ease viewing of these by bypassing Imageshacks common site link and stuff for thumbnail images and instead going directly to the full size ones, works great.)
