Sorry for bringing this up but I really need and advice... I have an ATI Radeon 4850 with latest drivers and NTW keeps shutting down my comp. As soon as I run it (even when I'm on my menu screen) my graphics card go nuts, and the fan starts spinning like mad. So I suspect its a graph. card issue. The strange thing is that it shuts down the comp. even when I'm on a campaign map which shouldnt be so graph. demanding. Other games (SC2 and such) run fine... Even ETW ran fine but didn't try it now since I've uninstalled it.
Any tips or help would be very appreciated
Thanks in advance

It's a very demanding game m8.
And try cleaning the dust out of the card?
Take all screws out and make sure you don't mess with the gfx chip.
Could try re pasting the chip with some artic silver gunk?
Remove all dust then try again?
I done mine the other day and there was shit loads of dust in there.
Should check it every month or so?

There are several patches, a unit pack, and the Peninsular Campaign.
None of it has been cracked yet though.

As I've understood it there's only patches actually, other stuff was added via those and are then unlocked when purchased from Steam, goes via the Steam account user info or something like that.
(If you have the latest patch then nothing is downloaded after adding a DLC.)
I've uploaded some of them but it's just to make things a bit more convenient and I don't know if it's actually possible to use the files and play the game without a proper crack, perhaps the old exe might still work but the code for the DLC stuff might not be in there and could cause other bugs and issues.
(For DLC to be enabled a different crack might be needed as well.)

Ahh yes, JB is correct. It's all patches. The DLC is included and unlocked once you've purchased it from Steam.

I bought a new graphic card (ati 6870) a few days ago and decided to try ntw with everything on max... and... it's horrible. It's not such slowness you'd get if you lack processing/gpu power, but rather every... half a second everything freezes to halt for a fraction of second.
Unticking all the graphic options (keeping all at ultra/max, but ticking the boxes) helps a bit.
Haven't had this problem with anything else though, so far I've ran everything on maximum settings at 1920x1200. (tried dragon age, fallout nv, two worlds 2, mass effect 2... think those are the most graphic intensive games I have)
Was just wondering if someone would have any idea what could cause it.

192 series on an ATi card ?
Let's assume that you don't have a mess there. Game's latest version is installed ? What CPU do you have ?

I like many many others, have terrible campaign map stutters, like crazy fucked up.. Battles run smooth, and when just sitting on the campaign map I get 100 FPS... But try to move in any direction and it all goes to a slideshow, well documented on several forums. Apparently 10.5 drivers worked great from ATI, but seeing how my card is a 6870 I can't use oldler driver sets/// It's not going to be fixed in a nutshell/

It has a lot of appeal to RTS fans... I woud've liked to play it but, with the way the game stutters, it just sat there... I play custom battles a bit, it's enjoyable somewhat. Eh..
Waiting for Shogun 2, Runs better anyway...

I get 50-60 fps when zoomed out or zoomed in when no units are around. I get shitty, nearly unplayable performance (10-20) when zoomed in on units fighting. Doesn't make a difference if I use very high, high or medium. The framerate only improves on the lowest setting. There's a couple topics about this on the Twcenter.net forums. Even a few people with high end systems like i7/Gtx 580 are experiencing it, meanwhile people with weaker systems are saying it runs fine maxed out. Whatever the problem is I hope CA fixes it.
The performance comparison to Napoleon isn't true in my case. My old computer could run Napoleon on ultra with smooth FPS and my current computer is a lot more powerful than the old one.
-edit- meant to post this in the Shogun 2 thread

There will be no fix, forum threads get locked by AMD and CA acts like nothing is wrong.

Pretty much sums it up, older stuff works fine it seems, and also on XP, new tech, W7, it runs like shit... Not for all, but for many it runs like like shit. Empire Total War and Napolean ran fine when I was on XP with a 9800GTX to compare. And it runs like shit on my current CPU. Like I say everything runs all maxed aside from the campaign map, lol...

Like I said, for some it runs fine, but for oothers there is something really fucked up with either drivers or CA... As was mentioned, people that are able to revert to 10.5 for catalysts say it runs fine, but for other like me whoo cannot revert, it sux. I can play the game and it runs fine, aside from major fucking campaign map stutters, which is the majority of the complaints about it...
