Every time I load a game now, Im getting this Source - Fatal error

"could not acquire the necessary game files the connection with Steam servers has been lost."

i have the emporio release and the APE fix (which replaces the client.dll file in the hl2\bin directory) according to online help.. this hasnt fixed the issue, any other ideas?

not really.. cause if you buy it your gonna have to wait like 5 hours for steam to update the game... not to mention the hassle of registration etc etc... problems are bound to hit you either way... i guess thats what u get for goin with the emporio version lol... prolly gona have to wait on update #1246453 until it works

why would you bother replying with the "buy it" comments? like what SITE are you on!?!?!?! thanks..

now if anyone knows how to solve this issue please reply thanks. there MUST be a way as this SAME copy was installed on 3 other PCs and they didnt have the issue..

It’s unreal that you can't cough up 49.99 for a game that’s hailed as one of the best pc games.

I mean it's not a lot, 49.99. If you have a high end pc with a high speed connection then you have money to spare. Getting things for free is cool and all but it's not a sin to spend some money on a game Very Happy It’s a shame you treat it as one.

got this same issue. my fix? tried loading the game with a diff save game, worked perfect. some save games get corrupted and you gotta load another. also you might have to delete the bad one, it seems to crap out when you try to even go to the 'load game' screen.
and to the lamers that say buy the game, take a look around you and stop yer squealin. nobody on earth can afford to buy every single game out there, so unless you do, and never tried a game for free then you are a hypocrite. plain and simple.

upstart thanks for the reply .. but the error pops up and sends me back to the desktop as soon as i hit load game. i dont get to see the saved games Sad

i fixed the issue... went into the SAVE folder, and there were 4 files (2 .sav and 2 .tga) just moved 1 of each to another location on my hd (matching pairs) then loaded the game with no problems from my last quick save!

50bucks is 50bucks... i can find hundreds of better ways to spend it then on steamy sh...

and besides that, people that see things like my peeprs do, would never support such a company that loves to rape people of their money... how many times have they sold counterstrike in a different package now?

lol... besides, 50bucks for HL2 (which has like 15hours of playtime) is way way way way way way too much, and all the older crap u get with it is useless poo just like the steamy poo u have to install with it...

bah i could go on and on... so i'll stop Very Happy

50 bucks for 15 hrs of game + endless modding possiblities + exclusive dwnloadable content + suppourting the industry.

With attitudes like that there's no wonder the pc game industry has gone to shit. sorry but imho if you play it and you like it you should buy it. But nah keep on taking and when all the good game devs go under u can look to valuesoft and davilek Wink And dont forget steam is an end result of piracy

bah i could go on and on...so i'll stop Rolling Eyes

I only play HL2 for 2 or 3 Hours. Don't like it so much. I only enjoy Counterstrike-Source. Very Happy
