Yeah same.

Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

@Dezztroy Go back one page and try JB's Settings.
@Anyone who is listening: MAN, that Placeholder guy sure gets mad props in the intro. WOW, he must be a jack of all trades!

P.S. : I still haven't tried the beta, so I'm assuming that the file structure is similar to the original.

why only learn the maps when you can actually play MP with this? just tried with some old laptop... besides lagging like hell on the laptop it worked fine!

Narrow field of view is the nr1 thing I hate about the multiplatform games. It kills the gameplay to me. Damn this download is soooo slow. 4% left.

Well, managed to get through the intro. Crashed after the cinematic though.
I assume everyone has the messed up sounds? Firing the assault rifle you have in MP in full-auto is one example.

Normally sys_spec 4 would enable the highest quality presets and shader data however it doesn't exist aside from what I mentioned on the previous page (For two of the preset CVar groups.) and neither does the shader code for it or so it would seem. (Would see a lot more restarts of the render as shader code is re-initialized.)
I also get that flash freeze for videos now and then and I guess that's a bug in this beta, you can temporarily rename videos.pak to skip all video files or better yet open it with Winrar (Or similar, it's a zip archive.) and extract it (Don't extract it to Crysis2Game\Videos but just Crysis2Game to get a \Video\ folder where it needs to be.) then move CryEngine3.usm, Crytek_logo.usm, EA_Sig.usm, legalNoticeText.usm and Rating.usm to say\Videos\X (Making sure the .pak is renamed .pak_ or similar as to not be loaded.)
Videos will now be skipped.
(I did the same for the second level video with the demo/promo video plays as due to it's size it often fails, still haven't found the setting that fixes that lag/freeze though sys_spec_shading 1 in the console usually works and then you just use exec system.cfg to re-load the other settings you used and re-set it back to 3 or 4 or what you use by default.)
EDIT: Dx10 shaders exist but not the .dll (If there even is one, DX11 can be backwards compatible though without SM5, tesselation and Direct Compute 5) to load that mode (Or however it works.), dx11 .dll exists but not the actual shaders, doesn't seem to toggle no matter how it's set as a launch parameter and is likely de-activated in this particular build for whatever reason, unsure about the specific settings for v.high aside from typing in stuff manually but as the shader data isn't all there it doesn't do much of a difference for visuals anyhow.
(e_lods = 0 helps a bit to counter this though it does hit framerate a bit since you disable the LOD system, easily noticed when used in the console.)
EDIT: That said the game looks pretty nice as is (Textures are like the first game however so a bit blurry and low-rez though it's masked somewhat unless you zoom in on stuff and the like.) and for a beta build (Though likely just five to six weeks away from gold say that it takes four to five weeks to press all discs.) it runs great.

Unplayable for me, I just get a Crytek logo when starting the campaign. I used JB's trick to extract the .pak since I was getting a Crytek logo freeze when first loading the game .. but now I'm getting one when I try and start a campaign.
Meh. I'm not deleting every video just to load the game, I'd rather delete the beta crap and wait for the retail.

I figured it would be, lol, I wasn't overly keen on Crysis 1 either :\ I tried the 32bit executable and that works but to be honest... it IS a beta/pre-release so I'd rather just wait for the retail.

How is the performance for you Sabin? (I'm actually too lazy to even think about downloading this beta, not to mention the fact that it would require a couple of days ).

Everything runs fine on the 32bit version, but if I run the 64bit exe, there are some weapon sounds that don't play right.
Any fix for this?
