This is good news but we still don't have enough information about the game to know if it is a true sequel to BF1942/BF2.
How much more information do you actually need?
Mod support, PC version's maps being bigger. That's it.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"

Exactly. And it's not that I wan't Mod support because the game will suck or anything, no, it's because to make sure that my investment, in the game, delivers enough fun for me in the long run.
For example, I pre-ordered BC2. I played the fuck out it. I had fun with it. But am I still playing it? No I don't.
I own BF2, BF2142, BF1942 and played the fuck out of them. Had fun with them. And I "still have". Why? Because of Mod support. Community (or even Company made) content in all it's variety.
And those Mods/Modders don't give me the feeling that they're trying to rob me like the Companies of today are giving me with their so called DLC.
The value for my money is huge on the old BF's compared to this new stuff they try to sell us. And the companies of today don't like it that way anymore. They want the fast buck. But as a Gamer, I couldn't care less about what the companies want. I give a flying tyrannosaurus fuck.
So, if there is no Mod support for BF3. Fuck it then. It's no real BF3 then. End of story.

This themed expansion pack features four legendary maps from Battlefield 2 boldly re-imagined with Frostbite 2 physics, destruction and visuals. Completing the package are classic Battlefield 2 weapons and vehicles, unique rewards, new achievements/trophies, and more. For those who don't pre-order to secure the limited edition, Battlfield 3: Back To Karkand expansion content will be available for purchase approximately one month after the game's release.

Well.. so much for not dividing the community via paid-for map packs...
I guess the reasoning is that this is not simply a map pack, but an expansion, like Vietnam. At least Vietnam was released much later and actually added content at the time when it was needed. This, however, takes the concept of selling games by pieces to a whole new level
Still, as far as pre-order bonuses go, it beats getting a couple of exclusive items.
I see you didn't read the thread (more specifically this page)

Fallout: NV and Dragon Age had DLC and preorder bonus items, but they also had mod support. And the most recently released game in the genre, CODBLOPS, will get an SDK too at some point.

Yeah, so thats why I asked why he was so sure
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

As well as Oblivion, Empire Total War (or at least had some mod support).
But the examples are so few on the "DLC era" timespan. And we already had the usual bullshit excuses from DICE with BFBC2.

Sure. Just like MOHA got one. "At some point" = "yes yes, but know, we promise to release an SDK at some point, but oops, damn, it's just too late now, we are already working on a new game, so we'll release the SDK for that one. At some point."
Just to remind, map maker is not SDK.
You have a point iNatan - however, you should try and look forward to get a new pc game for once rather than being so negative
We've been there and we've done that but then the gaming industry broke our trust, took us for a ride, stole our wallets, and fucked us up the ass (unless you enjoy being fucked up the ass then it would be something else that you would not enjoy like say being fucked up the penis), so you're a bit too late lad.
Well the last few years have thought me to always expect the worse. Anything above that is a pleasant surprise.
If you wind yourself up and hope for mod tools and amazing experience ("It's a freaking BF game, right? A PC game right? So why wouldn't there be mod tools, right?"), you'll probably end up with sour taste in your mouth with the end result.

I used to be like that - then I decided - fuck it, if I dont like the game Ill just stick to the old ones so it's not really the end of the world if the game turns out to be shite. Sure it cost alot - but its more expensive to go out on a friday night anyway so....

@cyclosarin_ I'm afraid you might be a little disappointed there... :\ We're focused on the game right now, external tools steal focus.
