And of course, every one's favorite "$5000 pcs to run crysis". I'd really like to see that unicorn of gaming pc's, to which every console gamer points when talking about pc gaming. To be fair though, Patcher refined his price to only $2000, what a steal.

I actually do like their reviews and podcasts, its just everytime somebody opens his mouth about pc, you cannot help yourself and facepalm. It is just fascinating how little they know about pc gaming in general. To them it is a WoWbox and internet machine. And if you think editors on that site are retards when it comes to pc, dont even bother going to general gaming section, because its editor's retardation level *1000.
They had a biritsh guy on IW show that usually defended the pc and was somewhat knowledgeable (at least no absurd comments from him), but now it seems like he usually plays xbox.

Do you think they're that stupid? Imho they're doing this on purpose. They've got advert contracts with so many console favoring companies. They manipulate the kids. And it works flawlessly.

There is playing for advertisement and then there is just stupid.
Bending the truth is playing for advertisment, but when you say something that is completely false, how can we not assume they are tards.
I genuinely think they are total fools when it comes to pc gaming, and they believe what they say. The site is primary for console gamers, so they do not have anyone to correct them. Most of the people on their podcasts are console gamers. Like I said, the British guy was always correcting them, so I think they are just uneducated about the subject. And they are not, because like you said, they get their money from console companies, so they do not bother with pc's and go by whatever bullshit they see everywhere else.

While I will agree that some of those comments are just - crazy out there, I do not believe they think a modern PC is going to set someone back 5K. . .hyperbole for effect is not the same as fact being presented. Also, the PS3 is probably stronger than a good number of PC's out there - 90% is probably a high number, but I would think the average gamer is not rocking dual top of the line video cards and whatever else craziness is out there to max out the most demanding games.

co.za? Comes out as south africa from my search. So he is probably talking about 9k SA money? From conversion it is about $1200, which is reasonable for a high end pc. It is probably more expensive there too.

Agreed - however (I hope) I believe they were talking specifically about machines belonging to people who might consider themselves "PC Gamers". This - would actually be an something interesting to investigate. . .or maybe not. Realistically, no one knows the distribution of PC-performance amongst the "PC Gaming" population.

Oh but we do: http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey
91.95% have at least 2GB of RAM.
89.81% have a CPU with at least 2 cores.
71.48% have a CPU with at least 2.3-2.69GHz.
79.93% have a GPU with at least 512MB VRAM.
I'd say that a machine built with the above stats should offer better than console performance.
The data are collected from those that agree to submit them when Steam asks them once a year. But how many Steam users are there? We don't know for sure, but what we DO know is that there are more than 30 million ACTIVE users of Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/news/4502/
If we make the hypothesis using the above data, that 70% of gamers on Steam have a PC that offers console beating performance, then we have 21.000.000 from the 30.000.000 active Steam gamers that have such a computer.
In comparison as of September 2010 there are 41.600.000 million PS3s sold in total while we only have the number of active users on Steam. Steam users in total could be double that number, and we still have no idea how many don't even have Steam installed.
tl;dr no way the PS3 is more powerful than 90% of gaming PCs.
