consolitis, thats just it - i already did all of this and still nothing happened. in the menu the controler works just fine, but ingame only the keyboard responds.
gamefr3ak, yup i knew that. still don't see what it has to do with my question.

because if i have to play this game with keyboard and mouse i`d rather not play it at all. there are just certain types of games that are a completely different experience depending on what type of input you use. for me personally this game is made for gamepad. the way StarCraft is made for keyboard and mouse. not that it can't be played with a gamepad.

Did you use the FLT release?

Btw, seems like that if you have DS1 installed, the game recognizes it and you're able to buy a "Refurbished Plasma Cutter" ?

@noflip -joypad_example.txt is NOT in game directory,but in SAVE directory in My Documents.Rename it to joypad.txt and edit it like that
Pad.RightDPad.Left =
Pad.RightDPad.Down =
Pad.RightDPad.Right =
(nothing after =)
then download xbox emulator, http://code.google.com/p/x360ce/ ,config it and paste files in game directory.The thing with joypad.txt is needed to make games did not find your controller and to force it find only emulated xbox controller.This method works 101% on first DS.I canot test it now because i have xbox pad already but i doubt it wont work.

How do you explain that:
1) the readme says it's in the install directory
2) it IS indeed in the install directory for me

I dont know about readme...I talking what was procedure in first DS.Maybe they cnahge it to install directory i dont know.Is that hard to check on both place?Release didnt matter here.

mroussev, now that you've mentioned it i think that's how i fixed the game pad in the first game.
i AM using the FLT release, but there`s no joypad file neither in the install or in the save directory. probably i need to start the game first an save for the first time
consolitis, i tried it the way you described but all that happened was that the menu went crazy the second i entered the game. and im sure i used the correct mapping.

Any way to increase difficulty on the fly? Started on the middle one and it's ridiculously easy, I'm on chapter 4 and ahven't died once and always have abundance of ammo
