That's the scene release, not the rip.

Are you forcing AO (EDIT: Or AA.) or similar from NVIDIA's control panel inatan?
(EDIT: Perhaps also try disabling the in-game AA effect?)
I checked some of my older images and couldn't find anything like that effect in them so that's just a guess.
I used custom settings with everything enabled, VSync disabled, 1680x1050 resolution (Upscaled to 1920x1200 via ini editing for a very light SSAA effect.) along with 16x forced AF, very high mip-map filter quality via ATI CCC (Though no AA.) and gamma was lowered further via ini editing as well (0.1 looks pretty good compared to the defaults 0.5.)

You likely know this already and I'm not entirely sure how it's implemented but don't forget that the default NVIDIA settings is to follow any profile specific setting (Doesn't mean the compatibility and special settings, just the general ones.), I usually disable that so that profiles don't override anything and then I set them all to a global value though that's probably not necessary to do or anything, also by default certain optimizations are enabled and texture filtering quality is at quality and not high quality.
(Same for ATI with that mip-map filter bias setting I talked about.)
Could be a driver problem as well though, ATI apparently never got forced AA working so it was disabled a few months back via a catalyst application profile, NVIDIA did manage AA in a recent driver update (for Dead Space 1) which works here as well but disables normal shadows.
(Workaround is to set shadow quality from high to normal but the soft edge effect on them is removed with this though AA will work better.)

Heh, visuals might feel dated by now but System Shock 2 isn't easily surpassed, especially with this current console generation and trends for what sells and such.
(Researching by using parts and chemicals for upgrades or knowledge, weaknesses, RPG like system, complex story, hacking/lockpicking, enemy behavior and types, level design and variations, start being branching and up to the player to choose, also you usually don't feel that superior in DS2 and are more fragile and so on for much else the game offered.)
(Bioshock gets close but it's a different generation of gamers now and the market has changed a bit since then, smaller studios or indie projects might have better luck though.)
(And I expect Deus Ex 3 to be similarly received, might not be a terrible game or anything as such though, same with the new Bioshock game though we'll see.)

And you mean a rip of the clone, right?
There's at least a couple of them around, one of them a 11 Gb rip (NOT the multi3 clone, it's a rip from the 18Gb version) called Det4adSpact4e2PC-elamigos.7z
Then there's a 5.9Gb rip but it's listed with a couple of different names it seems, the most common is DeadSpace2_RIP_5.9GB.part#.rar.

It works for the clonedvd... anyway...
i'm wondering what difficulty to take... does it do anything other than make enemies harder to kill and deal more damage?
