I am not having any issues at the moment, but do have a couple random questions that have occurred to me since starting this process. Would be great to get some answers just to plug some holes in the knowledge I've gained:

1) Multiman comes with an app called Last Game - what does it do?
2) kmeaw 3.55 puts a folder called */app_home/PS3_GAME on my XMB but I have no idea what it's supposed to do, and when I click it I get an error anyway. What's the purpose of this or reason for it being on the XMB?
EDIT: After finding this thread it would appear that this folder is just a side effect that has no bearing on things and it doesn't open for anyone.
3) Seeing as some games still don't work, won't it just be a matter of time before Sony copy the structure of these games for all future releases?

1. i believe it is to load the last game you played (without the need to boot multiman again)
2. having the same "issue" sometimes that map show the last game i played and can try to boot from it. (but fails)
3. i thought the same, we will see what sony does, but whatever they do we have the keys.

1), yeah that's what is meant to happen. I've yet to get it to work as mine just returns me to the menu.
2) It opens for me. It's the equivalent of last played. I actually thought that was what it was for. Once I've run the lvl2 patch, my last played game sits in that folder and is bootable.
3) potentially.

The one thing that intrigues me is what todays security patch was actually for. The release notes give no clues. Perhaps they're logging something extra is my thought.

I don't know how big his problems are honestly, but from what i can understand, he has to give all his hardware and software which are in any way related to ps3 hacking, this means that sony will know exactly how he managed to hack their hardware and fix it.
Also Sentence in this case will show what can you legally do with things you bought and "own" (in US at least)

Now for my question, Is there a way that i can use backup copies of my PS2 games in any of backup managers or whatever (I have a PHAT 60 gb with software backward compatibility)

And where did Sabin go, he was like encyclopedia of all things related to ps3 hacking Wink

I would like to know this as well.

Just getting use to PSN again after being off of it for 4 months. I wonder how long this DNS hack is going to work. Of coarse when I get use to it Sony pushes a new firmware. Knew it was coming just didn't know when.

I think what I might do is purchase another PS3 and have one for home-brew and one for gaming. I did a similar system with my 360's and the PS3 in the used market seems to be cheap enough.

He hasnt, the private keys are now generated randomly so its not possible to calculate them.

The keys he posted (and has since withdrawn from his github (well publicly) since a series of DMCA requests today) were the public keys.

Well as its sony vs geohot somehow when Authorities take his equipment I cannot see them handing them over to the other side (sony),I would of thought they go in police authority somehwre as evidence

This *may* help a few people who still get black screen in games with newest multiman and fixed permissions:

You wanted to transfer that one game to your ext hdd and then from that to the internal ps3 one.
After you noticed there are some 4gb+ files that cant be transferred onto a fat32 file system, you used opensplit (or any other app) to split the file into smaller ones.
Little later you decided to transfer the game via ftp, thereafter you started it but got a black screen.
I know this is a stupid thing to do (happened to me Sad), but in that case you basically transferred split files onto your ps3 hdd, which obviously cant be read.
Simply delete the game and transfer it with split files from your ext hdd to int hdd,
or join the split files, delete em on the int hdd and then ftp the joint file to the folder.

Hmmm. I think I'm going to jump on the 3.55 cfw bandwagon later today and give it a shot. I read through this thread quite a bit, but didn't notice if this was asked? Does this at all cause any issues in playing back Blu-Ray movies? I use it quite a lot for that Smile

I believe the newest MultiMAN uses that same syscall that is used for BD movies. If so, you'll need to restart the console if you've used it for backups just before putting in a movie. Otherwise, no issues whatsoever.

Excellent. Good to hear! I recall being in Jailbreak mode on 3.41 and it not reading Blu-Ray movies, so I was a bit curious. Maybe now The Social Network won't throw a fit asking for newest firmware when I go to play it Smile

Hahaha, The Social Network has a PS3 update on it. When I saw that, I had to do a double-take. Given it's from Sony Pictures though, I'm not all that surprised.

Haha, yep. I reacted the same way. Then pulled out the Samsung player to watch it. Sneaky bastards.
