Ok So I'm 27 single dad of my daughter of 6 (been just me and here for 2 years now but been there since day 1) 2nd year electrical apprentice....

So I am sitting here thinking I am 3/4 dad, 1/4 mom as a parent.
At my job im 3/4 myself and 1/4 white collar (mormon because im in utah) when I work with boss's son or other mormons I have to act like them.

My personal life I'm great wtih my buddies but I'm having a hard time with the woman and dating, I'm adding 6th 'personality' to the mix.....

what's the limit on this shit? Is this normal? I'm having a lot of anxiety but I'm loving life as well...

I don't think that you're developing another persons Laughing That's just called adapting to the situation...

Yes, that's just assuming different roles according to the situation.
If there's one thing I learned from Hollywood, it's that if you had a split personality, you wouldn't know it yourself.

why would someone want to belittle themselves by suggesting that they can not give their child all they need purely as a father. never bought in to any of this 'only women know how to raise kids' bullshit.

Everybody behaves according to the situation.
* When I am giving a lecture, I explain everything slowly and as good as possible to the students.
* When I am with colleagues, I go much faster.
* When I meet new people, I skip the easy stuff, to sound smart and get some respect
* When I am with friends, I joke all the time and make dirty jokes
* When I am with the girls, I only tell fun and interesting stuff
* When I am at the basket match with my basket buddies, I become a competitive animal
* When I am at the pokertable I become a boring snappy bitch (but I take the money home).

So I am not really understanding the question.

You're confusing adaptation with a split personality.

What you re doing is playing and / or adapting to "social roles", by trying to do what is expected of you. In a way that is quite normal, but it can become challenging, if you see them as different from you. Reasons to differentiate oneself from the roles expected of one are many. For example that you are expected to do things you normally do not enjoy or even find morally offensive. A common problem with social roles is, that when you try to adhere to them, the driving force for that is anxiety (e.g. "being anxious to please", "fear of standing out or attracting unwanted attention"). And anxiety can be a viscious circle, because the more you fullfil its "needs", the more anxious you ll be / become. There are several ways to combat the negative impacts of normativity / role expectancy / peer pressure, the easiest being: if you absolutely cannot fulfill a role expected of you, dont (i.e. discuss it with the ones who have the expectancies, or if its a job you do, try searching for one, where you dont have to do things against your moral code). It is also sometimes the hardest.

Nice, I see it is just adapting here, I've always been good at adapting to the situation whatever it be, the army taught me this when I was 18.... It wasn't much personality though.

These adaptations are harder than usual and I thought other wise.

But thank you this is some great input and something I can some back to and re-remember Wink

I don't know; have you seen that movie "The social network"? Turns out its inventor Mark Zuckerberg manages to excel at both being a triple A asshole as well as an entrepreneur and genius.

It's only easier if 'asshole' is your natural state of being...I can relate. Though I think we're different varieties of asshole, you're a cuntish asshole, whereas I'm an intellectual asshole.

The thing is, English is right the vast majority of the time. I suspect he weighs his posts before he makes them. Or not. I dunno. Either which way, he's a smart guy (not street smart...no offense English) and usually right...especially with things he has experience with

EDIT

Why do u think I ask him med questions. Because he's either a biology student (gotta be grad by now) or some kinda medical student and u can tell by the terms he uses he just doesn't watch ER and is one of those ppl (like my mother) who thinks they are Doc's because they watch Dr.Phil and those other twats that give a ton of misleading nfo
