You think dropping the price to 20 from 60 would somehow more than triple the number of people that'll buy the PC version? Surprised

You're looking at this from the wrong angle.

Drop the price to 1/3 might cut your profit, but at the same time you get more customers, say 3/4. And 3/4th customers is better than 1/3rd.

Because it's a native EA Downloader game and does not require Steam to run.

Well, he's probably right in that it's better with three quarters of your customers than just a third. Uh wait, what does this even mean?

Let's calculate this: you have 12 customers, paying 45€ each which makes 540€ total. Now you drop the price to 1/3, making it 15€ and attract 3/4 of your previous customers, which makes 9.
9 * 15€ = 135€

But the Steam sales show that you would most likely gain 10 times (Maybe even more) as many customers, and thereby make even more profit than with the original price Cool

And in addition to the extra customers, you would also gain a few extra buys at full price in the wake of a big sale... At least that is what Gabe Newell have reported on several sales on Steam.

Some people (most likely a minority but still...) had some problems with some keys that they bought from a couple of online stores, especially with MW2 and BLOPS.
Plus, no way that this game is worth anything more than 15€.
IMO, of course.

And I'm really not looking forward to use EA downloader, thank you very much.

This is totally true, but you didn't read his post thoroughly.
He assumed that by lowering the price, the game would attract LESS customers and that he would make a BIGGER PROFIT with a LOWER PRICE and with LESS CUSTOMERS. Hence the stupid remarks Wink

Btw. I got a [Multi3] release, and I thought that I could just deselect the Non English movies, but that didn't sit well with the installer. No worries, I'll just get those 750mb anyway.

That's because a product gets a Steam sale, after several months have passed since the release of the game and everyone that wanted to buy it for full price has already bought it. So now you go after those that didn't want to buy it for full price. Maybe they want to buy it for half the price? Next you go after those that wouldn't buy it unless it's dirt cheap, like 10$ or so, etc.

Launching for 20$ would be a very bad mistake because you'd only get 20$ from those that were willing to pay 60$. If Valve, who have gathered an impressive amount of data on how sales on Steam work, doesn't do it for their products (Portal 2 is set to launch for 50$), then it's guaranteed that it's not worth to try it.
