I gotta say I like the old pictures more. They should have only upped the texture resolution for clothes, and maybe made some other slight adjustments, instead of a completely new system.

And I'm more than happy with the more realistic looking direction instead of the old caricatures, we have way more than enough of those in the MMO market as it is. The only problem is that the new one doesn't offer a whole lot more freedom in face-morphing than the old one (at least that's my impression).

Unless I can recreate my one-eyes badass face, i see no point in firing up that editor any time soon
http://evefaces.com/?Malar
Original question was like 3 months ago, but here is my tip for those newbs that happen to read this thread these days. (several in fact)
- Be creative. EVE is a sandbox and many of the richest players of EVE came to be rich through their ability to think outside the box. Before you get the idea to copy common real life scams, please.. DONT. Trust me.. they were done so many times in the past 8 years, that only newbs will fall for them. Now whats the point in scamming people that have no money to begin with?
- Be open-minded and harden your heart. EVE is like the wild west, just a little more chaotic and lawless. You will get hurt, both monetarily and emotionally. If you can't get over the loss of some pixels (or lots of pixels), then this game is not meant for you. You will be kicked in the balls eventually and it will hurt like hell. Now you can either run away crying like a girl, or get over it, stand up and keep playing. If you really feel like a badass, then you could also go with option C. That is: systematically hunting your enemies down until they regret even the day they were born, let alone crossed your path.
- Be friendly. EVE is an MMOG, with a heavy emphasis on the second M (multiplayer). Because of the severe consequences in this game, the value of friendships is much higher and you depend on the people you fly with, just as much as they depend on you. Noone really cares how big or strong you are, if you have a few bouncer type friends with you.
- Find balance. It is easy to go into the extremes in EVE. Obviously you can't be all vengeful, aggressive, friendly, nice, open-minded, cold-hearted, etc. You have to find the ideal balance and that ideal balance kinda depends on your playing style and personality.
As for the PLEX during trial question:
Not sure how it is now, but it *was* possible. Required some luck, a nice dose of stubborness, dedication and some endurance. The guy i know that did this went through like 4 trials by the time he learned the game good enough. Spent these 4 trials roaming 0.0 in noob ships, scavenging for random loot, leftovers from battles (be those pvp or pve).
By the 4th trial the guy was a pro-ninja Eventually got enough ISK to buy a plex and to my knowledge, he is still playing the game. Added bonus of this approach, the guy never was afraid of 0.0, as he literally started out from there No better time to explore it when you have nothing to lose really. Keep that in mind.

good pointers, csebal!
oh and about the plex for trial thing: even tho my opinion is still that everyone is better off just spending the cash on 1-2 months since it's kinda demotivating to gather that rather huge amount of cash (well, for a newbie, it is) and then having to spend it on a plex instead of new toys. but if you enjoy pissing people off and making money at the same time, ninjaing is definitely the way to go - and quite lucrative if you do it the right way.
btw, i'm always happy to take fresh ninjas under my wing and show em the ropes.

and of course if they are dumb enough to shoot you, gank em right back. haven't been that successful with that stage, but then again, i'm a rather new player and still lacking pvp BC/BS skills. |
that sounds like fun. and yeah it happened, but it was not very popular afaik. i never played missions though. i don't recall mission objective items being worth anywhere near 20mil though... I don't have time now, but when I do I might look you up and reactivate my pvp account so we can maybe screw over some carebears together . I bet it's a lot easier to get aggro when you have a mate with a weak ship to tempt them.

well since lvl4 missions became lucrative and rather easy to run while the isk/hour for mining crashed, it shifted pretty much to ninjaing missionbears. can flipping in belts still occurs, but you don't see it happening very often
