ouch that really hurts as a Real Madrid fan, such unattractive and boring football winning tournaments 
Fair play their manager and squad have done really well to stifle opposition and get the results they needed, but as a neutral spectator the final was a let down.
Greeks will be going crazy though.

I'm glad portugal lost.... really I am
After holland got knocked out I wanted Greece to win and yes they did, maybe now Portugal will know what it feels like when we got cheated out of a goal...yes they maybe played better but will still deserved to go through.

greece sucks i dont know how they won. i remember before wc2002 where they couldnt even beat england. they just got lucky with a foreign coach who knew that the only thing they could do is play defense since every other team could only attack. i am extremely sad and will have to wait what happens in 2006.

The bad news is Beckham's taking it. Hoho!
Anyway, regarding Greece, they have defended well but that is all. Defending your way to a trophy is nothing to be especially proud of. Greece provided 0 entertainment during the tournament whereas teams such as Portugal and the Czechs tried to play good football.
It's disappointing that a poor team can beat better teams by defending but it's a fact that it's easier to defend than attack and Greece have proved it. I am all for a rule change which would encourage teams to attack because in recent times there have been far too many successful defensive teams such as Liverpool, Valencia, Bayern etc etc.

and GREECEEEEEE GETS ITTTTTTTTT.. and about Greece defending their way to the final and getting it.. Hmm they scored the goals to get there didnt they? also.. how about outmatching big teams and showing them how to play football where it matters.. and also.. defense is the game too.. defense and atack with breaks.. it is also in the footie game!!
may be some people are jealus cause greece can defend their 1-0 win over other teams instead of getting the goal and then loosing 2-1 etc etc!!
Anyway Greece gets it.. playing well in a ll games!!! so peeps can now be quite and NjoY it

Greece might not be the best team, but no one wins a tournament just by chance or luck. This might be possible for one game, but not all games.

You seem to miss the point that football is ENTERTAINMENT.
I don't watch football to see who wins - I watch it because I enjoy watching the sport and I enjoy watching the best players in the world play. When a team goes out to stop these players performing well and makes absolutely no effort to contribute any sort of entertainment then people are understandably pissed off when they are successful.
Teams should go out with the attitude that they should entertain first and win second. Unfortunately not many teams take this approach.

i thought we had seen the last of this type of football when Norway removed the "Drillo" style(finally)...a sad day for football imo..Greece won because they "killed" every single game they played and ruined it for the opponent by keeping all their players on their half, except the game against Russia where they were the favourite, and we all saw how that went..

I love watching good defensive play. It is important part of the game.
Also, Greece won all their games without going to Penalties.
Greece had good players. Perhaps the opposition did not show them enough respect.
I hear sour grapes.
We (england) only just drew with them to qualify. They were a good team then.
Once again, well done Greece. I wonder what they will be like on new Pro Evo game?

OK I'll give you that. I just think that they didn't earn their victory because they didn't play any especially good football. There was nothing in any of Greece's games that made me go "wow, this sure is a hell of a team". They play boring football, which was good enough to win this tournament, but this was strictly a one of a kind situation.

When I watch Maldini in his prime, that was great defensive footballer - when I watch the Greeks I just see organisation and 10 men behind the ball.
Fair play they won with these tactics, but I never saw anything that made me stand up and say "wow look at those defensive skills".
Greeks won't care how they won, just that they won - which is the case for all national supporters really. So they can enjoy this victory, it's just us Neutrals unforunately who can't appreciate it.

You dont know how many good players were substitutes.All you saw was a tactical game that many people dont like (me too).Greece could play better football but coach decided that only this way (most defense and quick attacks whenever we can) was the right for gining us the trophy.If its boring watching us for the next years just dont watch.....but as you remember 1992 denmark was also champion and noone could believe this.
