Played a lot of the nominees but had to go with Fallout New Vegas it was very refreshing to play an actual fallout game instead of the noobified F3.

Proud to be one of 3 humpers to vote for EFLC!
AC2, SC2, ME2, CoP were all weak compared to their predecessors, if not weak in general. BC2 I've only just started to play, so I'm not gonna vote for that. Black Ops is entertaining, but GOTY? Leaves me with NV (leaving the Fallout bit out on purpose), a title that in itself was decent enough, but really lacks depth for something that pretends to be an RPG. Amnesia I didn't play.
EFLC on the other hand I thoroughly enjoyed, Yusuf needs to be the next main character 
Had I had the chance, my vote would've gone to Guardian of Light, Meatboy (or one of the many other "small indie" games I've played), my revisit to the original two Oddworld games or my late start with SHIFT (yesyes, shame on me, but I was too busy with uni when it came out + I had given up on the NFS franchise) 
Every single one of them has kept my attention for longer than any of the games in the poll, with the exception of EFLC

Well thats just strange. After all that bitching and moaning including me about how dumbed down the ME franchise has been and ME 3 will probably be like a 5 hour CoD game yet it is currently winning the goty standings in this forum. Hypocrite much?

That's because even DESPITE the fact it's dumbed down compared to the first one; the plot/audio/pacing hasn't changed, it's still a pretty fantastic game with some of the very best production values - especially out of that list. Just a shame the RPG and exploration elements were streamlined so heavily.

ME2 and FNV were relatively close just a couple of hours ago, if I am not mistaken. ME2 had a noticeable bump in votes all of the sudden.
In any case, I agree that despite some of the unnecessary changes in gameplay, the game as whole was the most memorable for me that year so that is what I went with. Non of the alternatives (out of those I have played) seemed good enough to pick instead of ME2.
This year looks more promising so far, with much more meaningful competition.

When I bumped the thread yesterday evening I was expecting an epic comeback from New Vegas, but apparently I made things worse  |

i didnt play that many games last year but i really liked assassins creed 2 and amnesia was awesome, awesome to the max but i voted for bad company 2 because thats the game i spend the most time with and i really enjoy the vietnam expansion
