Unknown how it will affect the PC version of Homefront (as it's very possible it'll be a SteamWorks title, therefore renting/buying used would be impossible in the first place) but THQ announced that those that buy Homefront used will be able to play the whole game.. except that their character won't advance past level 5 (on multiplayer).
In order to further advance the player will have to pay 10$ to get a code that's normally included with all new copies of the game.
This is similar to Mass Effect's free "Cerberus" DLC, that you had to pay extra 10$ if you bought a used copy or Alan Wake that had the #1 DLC free if you bought the game new, etc.

While I don't resell my games or rent/buy second hand, this means instant piracy for me. Fuck them. This is not unlike stupid Ubisoft DRM. Even if that means the next Dawn of War. Fuck THQ.

Hey, it's still better then going to full steam-like service with games tied to single account.
Kinda reminds me of Dragon Age, which is pure dvd-check game for main campaign, while DLCs need activation with account.

I mean if a person is stupid enough to buy something only to find out it sucks, they're fricken retarded.
Come on, just read the reviews, play the demo, or pirate full game to find out if it's worth the purchase.

What a crock of shit. Have you seen the prices GS sell their preowned games for? I'd say it was a switch if you ask me; 20% from new and 80% from preowned. Gamestop are fucking crooks, they're just downplaying the profits from pre-owned games because they knew how royally pissed off publishers would be to find out that GS are making so much money selling preowned games for pennies less than "new"
